So, if anyone is a PM member, Gabe just made a post about everything he heard through his sources during the search.
His sources thought that we had GM, but GM ended up declining and there was a mention of a Sunday deadline. So, some of the rumors we were hearing were some of the same gabe was hearing.

There was a lot of info he never posted because he wasn't sure he should.

If anyone has PM go ahead and read that. Definitely an interesting look behind the whole search.

Yeah I was reading that they just couldn't agree to terms which to me probably meant that they wanted to offer less than $3.2million and GM . wouldn't do it. If the money was right, GM would have taken the job but they didn't want to pay that much.

Guaranteed versus incentive money.

If that's accurate, Frick GM. M
If you say I need $3.2M and you won't let some of that be incentives, you don't deserve $3.2m.

I don't blame GM at all.

He's in a good spot right now, I'd ask for the world too. Especially if I were making millions of dollars at a place that has nothing better to do than idolize me.

It was bad timing. If this was next year, he'd probably be the coach right now.

I wouldn't have paid him more than 3M.

He was asking too much. I was never really excited about the guy.

Here's a little something from TB. I believe this guy was posting some decent info this past week.

"I have a really good source that tells me that we were literally $200,000 apart. 2.8m vs. 3.0m."

Unless it is reported by a credentialed reporter such as Gabe, Pete, Dave, etc. I don't buy it. No longer accepting TB rumors as good inside information.

Where do you think they got their rumors?

But even if that's true and they agreed at 3 million, doesn't that piss off Pinkel? I mean on one hand you want a big name coach but you gotta keep in mind the football coach that just had an uneasy contract negotiation.

No harm no foul, I'd guess. We could've hired a basketball coach at more money than Pinkel but we didn't. That's not enough reason to renegotiate his contract. He needs to be on the lookout that we don't replace him with Mel Tjeerdsma.

Marshall was an option, but the amount he wanted was not acceptable to BOC.

Marshall stated in interview yesterday. "I was very impressed with Mizzou and Mike Alden. The timing was just not right."

Marshall will end up leaving WSU in a couple years and it won't be for 3 million. This is the highest his star will be. I wish we could have gotten him. But I'm not crying over it. Just looking forward to what Kim can do for us.

Lots of butthurt in here, GM has made wichita state be in a position to compete with the big boys. At mizzou off that reputation and ability to be in the SEC he could have dominated. We decided money wasnt worth taking our program to all new levels.

Unless of course you think KA can get us a final 4

I'm fine with not throwing that kind of cash at a basketball coach right now. Let's see what Kim can do, and in a couple years if we need to we can throw that kind of coin around once SEC money starts rolling in. I think I would have rather had Howland over Marshall anyways.
