2.5 million to a billionaire is like ashtray change.

From what I understand and this apparently was on the table, the league ownership can disolve the team. The stips behind that are that the team's owner, in this case the Clippers has to be doing something that is deterimental to profitability and under that circumstance the league owners can step in and dissolve the team. Not that this was going to happen but I heard this on the radio this morning and I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

That's ridiculous. Being a racist and a bigot isnt against the law. Comments made in private should not be grounds for being forced to give up personal property.

I don't think they can force him to sell.

The NBA did the right thing by distancing themselves as far away as possible. Good move.

I'm not trying to apply the slippery slope argument to this but I wonder what happens the next time a coach or player says something racist or homophobic.

The NBA can do whatever they want. In a league where 85% of it is black this is best thing they can do. He put this in the owner's hands.

This isn't Sterlings first egregious actions. He's been a racist POS for a long time.

I would tell them to shove it.hire a herd of attorneys and go scorched earth on the NBA. The man has the money to go toe to toe in court with anyone.

Might be interesting to do discovery on Magic and his partners....

The point I was trying to make was there isn't a legal issue that can be used as a tool to help force him to sell.

They joined the NBA so he has to follow NBA rules. I don't think they can make him sell the Clippers but he'd probably want to since they lose almost all their value if they aren't in the NBA.

Mark Cuban nearly said this word for word this morning in Dallas.

Depends on what the NBA Constitution says.
