This video is pretty haunting so if you cant deal with people being in severe pain, etc. in the immediate aftermath of a tornado DO NOT CLICK. You have been warned

LINK

Anyhow, what's the boards opinion of this guys actions? Personally I think he's a jackass as I could never just roll on by women (and presumably children) screaming in pain/fear while I took a fricking video

Now, we don't know the whole story but it's pretty clear to me that EMS has not arrived yet so it's not like he would be getting in their way. The least he could do is stop and see who he could help/give water/whatever possible. Hell, getting out and simply trying to comfort ppl would've been more useful than taking a fricking video

That's just my opinion, what does the board think?

There's no debate.

We shouldn't have this footage and he should be helping right now.

it's hard to say. they guy may have eventually stopped to help out. the woman screaming may have been in shock - need more details before judging the guy

The vid you linked was a 20 second one of the sky. Did I miss something?

There are children shrieking in pain in that video. This guy is unquestionably a piece of shite.

While I definitely wouldn't be driving through a destroyed community with a video camera, we don't know what he did afterwards. Once he saw the woman screaming he should have parked the car, put up the camera and gotten his arse out to see what he could have done to help. If he never got out to help then yes, he's a piece of shite but we don't know if he did or not.

So bc he's a storm chaser he just says frick everybody else all he's suppose to do is chase storms and ignore ppl who need help?

I'm normally not the all high and mighty type but this pissed me off, no way in hell I could've kept driving by those people screaming and such. If reports are true there was likely bodies laying in the street.....

What did he do wrong? The storm was over at this point. There was nothing to chase. There were people to help and it looks as if he didn't help them. That's what he did wrong

Dude if you would've read the comments from the vido you would've seen that he DID stop the car and helped. And he can only do so much, he's not a trained first responder so it's not like he could pull people out of houses and things like that. He did what the police told him to do.

I hear people screaming needing help I don't even have time to think about videoing anything. Don't know his motives.

one of the dangers of helping people in this situation is not knowing if they have a neck or spinal cord injury. probably a good idea not to move them until first responders get there

it's a tough situation to be in I guess

If you're going to storm chase, then you should take some basic first aid and disaster response training since that is the thrill you seek, you should be prepared to deal with what you'll find in disaster areas.

Simply do not put yourself in the situation to where it's very likely you'll encounter something very bad if you're not capable or willing to learn how to handle the aftermath of a severe tornado. Just seems like a common sense thing to me.
