Thoughts going out to those who lost loved ones.
I hope the last 3 years have allowed you to built back stronger...

Wow, doesn't seem that long ago. Tough for all involved.

My adrenaline was pumping because I was out in the shite. I was in a parking deck, right across the street from First Baptist Church in downtown Tuscaloosa, watching it as it moved into town from the southwest.
In the moment it was probably one of the greatest, most awe-inspiring experiences of my life. The fact that people were dying as I snapped photos was well in the back of my mind. It really wasn't until an hour later, when the damage reports started reaching us at the dorms, that I realized what I had just seen.

Smokes right, it doesnt seem that long ago. And the mid-west and "northern" southern states are going to get some nasty weather and tornadoes today and tomorrow.

Hard to believe it's been 3 years. I remember it like it was yesterday.

That parking deck is probably a good 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from15th street... I would have been extremely nervous in that location when that big bastard touched down!

Thank God that it's never happened again. Many people died such as Carson Tinker's beloved girlfriend. It's definitely been a rallying call for the state of Alabama. Look at the athletic accomplishments and everything that has happened since then.

Could be pretty rough up Arkansas way later today.
Be careful and stay safe.

The one behind city hall? I was there too. Me and a friend wanted to get a good view if something showed up and that we did. It was basically the sky cam view that Spann had on tv. I remember thinking what if this thing turns towards us, jump in the stair well I guess. Then I realized how close this thing was headed towards my apartment and sure enough it was basically across the road from where I lived at the time.

I had left Full Moon 20 minutes before it struck. I was in my apartment on 15th and we barely made it downstairs, busted in to some dudes apartment and cowered in the laundry room with like 6 people and a dog. Two of our windows got blown out and my roommate nearly got his leg smashed by a piece of debris he dodged when we were getting into the downstairs apartment
Been petrified of storms ever since

As bad as the toll was, I was surprised it wasn't worse once I watched the videos and saw the photos.
What a tragedy.
What a tragedy.

I just happened to be driving from Pensacola to Iuka, MS that day.
Virtually every town I went through either had just been hit or was just about to. At one point about 15 miles out of Moulton on AL 157 I coukd see a massive wall of blackness moving across the road way off to the West. I pulled over into the median and waited for it to pass by. When I got to Moulton about 20 minutes later a nasty thunderstorm hit and I was forced to wait it out at the Sonic. When I finally got going again I discovered where that black wall cloud had crossed - the EMTs were pulling some poor woman's body out of what had been a convenience store.
I make that drive pretty often. I always think of that day when I reach that stretch.
