Is now a good time to renew the Texas rivalry?

Looks like they won't be playing A&M anymore. If we could jump in and renew the rivalry, it would help a lot recruiting the state of Texas. We already have the A&M game in Dallas, so we would have at least 3 games in the state every 2 year period.

Aside from that, it's a fun game for the fans and it would assure we always have a decent OOC opponent.

If we can schedule it to start in 2016 then sure why not.

Actually, I just remembered we play TCU in 2016 and 2017, so it would start in 2018 at the earliest.

No need to play 4 cupcakes in a year. OOC schedule could be:

Sun Belt team
FCS team
Texas
Dealer's choice (most likely another cupcake)

I agree. Better for the fans, television and money.

I've been saying we should slide into the A&M spot against Texas since they moved over to the SEC. Keep whispering in Texas' ear it will help stop their bleeding of in-state players, a National rivalry is renewed and a stronger OOC which the Big12 publicly acknowledge they need.

Get it done Long.

Pigfeet,

I also agree Coach needs to stop being a whiny bitch, go recruit and win games. Then run your mouth on twitter.

I think KU and Arkansas should play instead. Battle of the Ar/Kansas.

Top 10 defunct rivalries

Before Arkansas hired Frank Broyles in 1958, you couldn’t call this much of a rivalry as Texas dominated the Razorbacks. But that changed in the 1960s, as it might've been the premier rivalry in college football. The teams' annual showdown usually were played with the Southwest Conference title on the line. Six times from 1961-1970 the two teams met while both were ranked in the top 10.

The two schools' style of play symbolized southern football in that era and met in one of college football's 'Games of the Century' in 1969, with President Nixon flying in to watch. After the Longhorns rallied to win 15-14 the president declared them, perhaps prematurely, national champions.

The rivalry continued through the '70s and '80s, but ended after 1991 when Arkansas left the scandal-wrecked SWC for the SEC. Since that time the schools have only met four times and with nowhere near the emotion the games once held.

I guess the rivalry never ended for me. The memories of Texas Week in Fayetteville are still vivid in my mind.

It has been longer than I care to recall but the 2000 Nuttin' but fun Cotton Bowl victory was exciting times, too. I remember it started out cold that day as I wore a heavy leather Razorback jacket to the game. Things got rolling in the second half with Cedric Cobbs.

We start playing Michigan 2018 and 2019

Dammit. Makes no sense. Why Michigan over Texas?

I hope we do better than we did in the '99 Citrus Bowl. That was one long drive back from Orlando. Michigan had Tom Brady then, though.

We suck in bowls. I've come to accept that.

We typically get selected for bowls that are better than our team actually is. Rarely are we the favorite in the bowl games, and when we are...

The boys and coaches party too hard and shite the bed.

Have to admit that our family love Houston Nutt after that ball game.

I was stupid enough to believe that he would be able to get us back to national prominence.
