I'm seeing lots of Indian reservations and the usual suspects for poverty stats.

So... mostly in the poorest areas of the country.

Rural probably the greatest connection. Which I mean, isn't surprising.

Basically, but that's a lot more in Bama than I expected.

Hawaii was a bit surprising but Maine isn't terribly. I also wonder how they define complete plumbing.

0.5%. Not significant.

I visited the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota last week, and I've never seen poverty that bad. 90 percent unemployment. It was unreal. 20-30 people living in one single wide trailer with no plumbing or electricity. Really makes you appreciate everything you have.

Wonder what constitutes a "complete" plumbing facility?

The reservations in South Dakota generally represent the poorest counties in the country. The invisible poor...out of sight and long forgotten

My fiancée's sister works there for AmeriCorps, one of their biggest projects is building outhouses for families. It was very sad just being there.

They really hate white people there. And they are quick to let you know it.

My great grandma was full blooded Quapaw, so I'm sensitive about Native American issues. But all the natives I talked to really did not like me no matter what I said. It's a deep seeded hatred.

Well it's hard to blame them.

Most people you talk to probably end up hating you.

Problem is the natives don't know how to help themselves. The BIA will give them money and the corruption is so bad that none of the money ever gets to the people who need it. Families in charge line their pockets with it, meanwhile the rest of the Lakota suffer the extreme poverty.
