It's because they don't have Saban to coach them once they leave.

"Alabama's defensive players in general have struggled in the NFL," Kiper Jr. said. "Not just one or two. It's a pretty good list of names you can throw out there of guys that have not gotten it done on the defensive side of the ball. Mark Barron still hasn't played up to the level you thought he would. That's a concern to me."

Among the players Kiper Jr. criticized for not living up to their potential were linebacker Rolando McClain (eighth pick in 2010), cornerback Kareem Jackson (20th pick in 2010), Terrence Cody (57th pick in 2010), Barron (seventh pick in 2012) and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (17th pick in 2012).

"Maybe that's a factor. But it is something that you have to look at because there's been a number, a host of players out of that Alabama defense, over the years that have come out as high draft choices and, frankly, been major disappointments."

If you believe that to be true, I have some land on the coast for sale for a dollar an acre. BTW What about Nick Fairley, last i checked he really sucks. And about every barn player I can remember being drafted in the last ten years has sucked in the NFL. Brown, Williams greatest ever at the barn, sucked in the NFL.

For every one of those not living up to expectations, there's one that is. I will take a 50-50 ratio every time.

Kiper is judging disappoints based on pro bowls, which is ridiculous. Darius made the pro bowl last year. Hightower, Barron, Jackson, deaderick, upshaw, etc. Have all been multi-year starters. If you start in the NFL, it isn't a disappointment, no matter where you were drafted.
