Start-up town
I knew they were growing, but dang.
On a related note, notice that the "little women's clothing store" on the Square, called Riff Raff has over 500k likes on Facebook. They are doing e-commerce out the wazzoo. They are following a similar model.
Seriously, though. Anybody in the world who wants to make it big in e-commerce should just go ahead and relocate to NWA. The talent and infrastructure is in place.

In just under three years, Country Outfitter has grown from an upstart online seller of cowboy boots into a full-scale southern lifestyle magazine-come-to-life, with millions of fans (over 10 million across a handful of Facebook pages, actually), partnerships with some of the most established country music stars in Nashville, and a nine-figure sales goal in 2014 (a goal that they fully expect to meet and exceed, by the way.)

Got to tour Acumen's warehouse last year. They have a very cool facility AGV (automated guided vehicle) technology there.

Also, apparently RiffRiff is making like one person mad based on this Traveler article (this is worse than linking Bleacher Report but I thought it applied here)

Just about every college paper is awful.
Looking at the Flyer article about Acumen, I noticed this as well. The start ups in the technology park have been doing well lately, too.

I'm telling you, I have been feeling for the past couple of years that Fayetteville is about to take off in a huge way. Not that I want it to grow any more, but there's so much happening in the startup scene. The Walton college keeps churning out winning entrepreneurs, and a lot of them are collaborating with the engineering school. The resources they have to work with at the Walton College are extremely valuable in starting and growing a business.

The Kiva robots are pretty cool. Logistics talent and technology here is some of the best in the world.

the same thing happened with abercrombie and fitch a few years ago- the author probably heard about that and decided to pounce.

Definitely. Between engineering and Walton the companies around here have their pick of a lot of good grads each year. I don't think a lot of people know it but John White is pretty much the leading expert in Facility Logistics (in the world).

“We’re trying to be the fourth largest company in northwest Arkansas,” James said. “There’s Tyson, Walmart and JB Hunt, and we want to be next.”
I will totally buy some boots from them and help their goal.

Its funny that they've grown so fast that they aren't sure if they are already the 4th largest or not. Those dudes are printing money. Somebody needing a job should work there, get some stock while you're at it.
I worked for a small-ish company for 3 years at one point. I got in on the tail end of their stock purchase program. It sold a few years later after I had left the company. I forgot I had stocks. I made like $30k for doing nothing.

A good friend of mine works for Acumen. He's a software designer and he says it's a great place to work. They're really raking it in.
