Why do people have the need to get engaged before they graduate?

It seems like it is a every day occurrence that when I open my Facebook someone I know is getting engaged. These are all 22 year olds that are likely graduating within the next couple of weeks.

Getting engaged this young seems miserable to me

You'd be wrong--it was awesome

And idk, it just was convenient at the time. No regrets

I'm 28 and have been with the same woman since I was 20.

Wouldn't change a thing.

Yeah I'm not hating on the people that do, but it seems like a lot of people are rushing to get it in before they graduate for some reason.

I mean, do you personally know that they're rushing, or is it just that most of your peers are hitting that stage of life simultaneously and cluttering your news feed?

I mean, it's pretty common to get engaged just before/just after graduation. Ain't really new, but it's in your face kinda right now

That might just be it, but it feels odd that so much of it is happening the week before finals

I just know a lot of people that have been in much longer relationships that don't seem to be in any sort of rush.

One of my best friends has been dating the same girl since like our sophomore year of high school and getting married seems to be the last thing on their minds right now

I might be the minority on this I guess

I get what you're saying, though

When I was a senior, it seemed like about half my facebook and real life friends were getting engaged. I just didn't mind as much because I was right in the middle of it, myself

I agree. Half of my friends are married already and it just seems like such a drag to me. Perhaps it's just bc I haven't found the right woman yet though. That's probably it.

I was 23 when I got engaged my senior year. I had sex multiple times a day for like ten days straight after that, so it wasn't too terrible I suppose.

Once you've found an OT 7+ who doesn't regularly annoy you and will put her mouth around your penis occasionally, shut it the frick down.

Those people were almost always lame without anyone else to hang out with and were afraid they'd lose their only source of socializing.

Or they got knocked up.

Or there's a small chance there was a lot of family money involved and you gotta lock that down.

Which people have very little of when they get engaged at 21 years of age.

I'm not knocking you if you did, it's just my opinion.
