Interesting read on poverty and affluency in the Delta, though it fails to mention many of the reasons why it is this way.

I feel little sympathy, as the man in #6 rolling a blunt used to work for us and was fired for failing a drug test. Nobody's fault he is unemployed but his own

I'm more in the "affluenza, white fence, girls in cotton dresses at a cocktail party" category so I'm fine

That looks so depressing. I recognized Amanda Elzy. It usually produces some good basketball teams too.

I'm sure you could do worse.

I know what you mean. I have the same things go on... Some of them just don't give a frick; white, black, or Mexican.

Did the guy do a bad job?
Or was he fired only because of the drug test?
I'd say it's the fault of an unjust law, and an unjust policy to drug test.
And the poverty-affluency gap is a huge issue, like a tree, branches upon branches upon branches of information and things to dissect.

I may agree with you that it's an unjust law, but that doesn't excuse someone from following it.
And even though I don't drug test my employees, if a company requires a drug screening and he fails it, that's on him. Companies drug testing has more to do with workers compensation insurance than it does political/philosophical beliefs.

Yeah cuz someone has thc metabolites in their system from smoking a bowl two weekends ago and you can deny them comp because of this "intoxication".
If the drug test tested to see if you're high when it happened, I get it. Otherwise it's stupid.
*gets off soap box*
It's still the company's choice no matter what I think though.

Changing the world one half baked rant at a time.

It probably has more to do with not being able to follow company policy than the drug use actually.

I don't disagree.
I think it's stupid company policy, that's my point. If it's policy and you know it is, fall in line and find another job.

But in all honesty I could not live in that town. Or in most of Mississippi for that matter.
