After seeing the Spring Game how would you game plan for game 1?

After seeing an apparent improvement in Nick Marshall's passing skills in the spring game what would you want the offense to focus on for game 1?

Should we keep it vanilla and just run it unless we need to throw? Or do you think we should come out throwing to show the rest of our opposition that they're going to have to defend the whole field this season?

What do you think Gus will actually do? Is it the same as what you would want to happen?

first 3 plays should be adaptions of swinging gate, involving Swain somehow

Need to watch the Arkansas spring--

Actually I don't. I'd run the offense as fast as possible just to piss off Bert. That's about it.

But would you still want it run heavy say 70-75%? Or would you wanna open up the passing game a little more? I can see running it just to prove to Bert that he can't stop us no matter what. But I can also see us opening up the passing game a little more to give others down the road pause before they try to just load the box up against us.

Did not need to watch the Spring game to answer this. Given how strong Sammy, Duke, and company are plus how weak Arky's DBs are I sling the ball around the field. 60% pass/40% run.

Run it down their throat every play make them like it finish the game with only 6 passes and laugh at the piggies

I script several running plays and run them fast. Then on the third first down I use play action to get the ball to Sammy or Duke.

I actually agree somewhat with this. The strength of the Arkansas defense is their front 4. I definitely want us to pound them especially late in the game but we could crush their spirits early with some big pass plays. Their secondary is very weak.

I am interested to see how this new big front 4 looks against the pigs. They do have a pretty solid OL and RB core

I think Gus comes out slinging it around like he did at A-Day. If that works well, he will keep playing pitch and catch. I still think our O will be 60% run, at the very least. I am hoping our D keeps their scoring low so we can get the second, and hopefully third, stringers in at most positions. I want Gus to rub bert's nose all in the shite.

Lay on floor.

Try not to cry.

Cry a lot.

ETA: this is if I was Bert.

I don't really care what we focus on for the entire game. I just hope we honor the 10th anniversary of our first 13-0 championship season by running the exact same first play we ran against the Pigs that year.

Namely, this.

Maybe Gustav will put in Swain to run the deep route.

Bert has to know they're gonna get crushed. Id love to see a bomb first play, then just pound them on the ground for the next 58 minutes.

Start snapping the ball with 1 second left and run the score up just so Bret can't do anything but watch. When the score is high enough then start running the Swing gate with Swain over and over until the game is over.

Seriously I don't think it matters what we run on Offense but I hope Gus doesn't let up so early.

Now that I think about it, I'm guessing Gustav will test their secondary early, try to keep a good balance for the first few series, and depending on the score, eventually fall back into a similar approach to last years game - very simple run-heavy attack, very little HUNH. It's a long season, no sense putting too much effort into a game we should win comfortably.

Emphasis on the word "should" for our Arky lurker friends.

I want to send a message, I want to see an all out passing attack.. Hang as many points as possible on them.
