a few thoughts

blake is not a pocket passer. he needs to run it about as much as passing, then i think he could be successful. hes too short to see over the line. even saban was saying run it. hes got plenty of arm though.

bateman has a rocket laser arm, looks serviceable, just not a ton of time to throw and tight windows in coverage. there were some plays where it looked like he was going to take off running but where blown dead, would have liked to seen what he can do in that regard.

DL 2 deep looks absolutley insane. i think saban's mind games have paid off, as well as the superior coaching of bo davis. im super stoked to see this group in action, they look huge, fast, strong, and hungry

LBs will again be the best in the country. depriest is solid as it gets with a ton of good football under his belt, foster plays like a maniac and is everywhere (hopefully he can stop knocking himself out), ragland looks ready for prime time. and some of the young guys like tim williams look like legit pass rushers. we will get a couple other guys like that in the fall who might make some situation contributions in the pass rush department(evans, miller)

i was impressed with the secondary. i know the O was vanilla, but it looked like everyone was more confident, in better position, the effect of lots of hard won experience last year, and thats without probably without best guy (eddie jackson) present. im thinking by the time we play lsu, brown will be able to go 1 on 1 with anyone receiver in the country you want to name, hes that naturally gifted. hopefully eddie will heal up and we will have to lockdown guys out there in the meat of the schedule.

the oline got outplayed generally. but i tend to think its just that the dline is monstrous, and oline takes a while to gel. looks like we had some good success running right. Cam Rob has come a very long way quicky, still struggled some but the fact that hes with the 1s when he should be going to prom speaks volumes. the sky is the limit, and he will come along at an amazing pace with some game experience. im hoping jackson will add some brutality to the oline mindset when he gets on campus. that guy just looks mean

chris black needs to spend his nights an weekends just catching passes. he looked like he a real weapon, right until the ball kept bouncing off his hands. sims numbers would have looked better without the black drops

yeldon looked to be in fine form, no hesitation and was running strong. drake is the best back we have until someone hits him. henry never got much room it seemed, dline was always there in his face when he got the handoff. but we know what he is capable of.

kicking is a disaster. morris was actually quite serviceable as a punter, would make for some interesting fake punts if he actually stuck there instead of transferring out. quite frankly hes more likely to make an nfl team as a punter than a qb at this point

cant believe howard was not targeted more. he is pure mismatch all over the field, you would think he'd be the first guy you look for on 3rd and long.

brain vogler is not good at pass catching. we really miss Michael Williams, that huge-bodied te that can block and still roll out and hurt you in the pass game

too many WR drops in general.

I agree with pretty much all of this.

if our cb's are better than last year, this defense can be scary good. but, if the o-line doesnt gel enough to protect whoever the qb is, this offense will struggle.

I thought at the outset that you would in no way see how our TEs would be utilized in the spring game. Just like you would not see any special plays to the FB.

another observation, Robert Foster is really really good. And if there is any question about his speed, watch he play in the first quarter where he makes that big catch at the 5. he outruns tony brown on that play

Word, Rob Foster is legit. I like him and Stewert more than Black.

Thanks for the update. Gets me up to snuff.

Re the kicking game..... Can't we go to Australia or Europe and find a place kicker? I mean really......
