Was just on 104.5 in Nashville. Said the hangup with White was "a very minimal buyout after year 2" that would allow Tennessee to fire with basically no penalty. White wanted a large buyout due to the shape the roster is in. Hart did not budge. White is now officially out.

Says Tyndall, Howland and Cronin are the next group of candidates. Doesn't believe any of them have the leg up, but said he would hire Tyndall if he were the AD.

I actually think White had a good point, especially given with how Cuonzo left.

In fairness to him, the roster y'all currently have (the players recruited under Cuonzo) wouldn't have worked at all in his system. He needed a large buyout and he knew it.

The way the SEC Schools pull the trigger on Coaches, buyouts have to work both ways.

If UT is going at coaches like they went at White, they're going to have a really shitty hire.

Don't fool yourself. Cuonzo is responsible for that roster and he left because of it. That's the only reason he's not our coach right now. When Stokes made the decision to go pro Cuonzo bailed because he knew he couldn't do squat with roster he's responsible for creating.

What a shitty thing to stick to your guns over, especially if the guy has to rebuild your roster.

I think I'd rather take Howland than Tyndall though.

With the condition of Basketball in the SEC right now, any coach that doesn't have confidence he can turn things around is not worth hiring.

If the OP is correct, your AD screwed up, IMO.

Got my fingers crossed that we land Howland or Cronin and Hart falls arse backwards into another good hire.

To be frank, I wish it happened more.
