This was Alabama's first week as #1 in the Power Rankings, and they won their series at Tennessee. Florida (#2 last week) swept Georgia in Gainesville, which puts them tied for first (with Alabama) in conference record. LSU took the series from Ole Miss, South Carolina escaped Auburn with their series, and some other stuff happened.* So how does all this shake up the Week 6 Baseball Power Ranking?

If you want to contribute to this week's Baseball Power Rankings, submit your 1-14 ranking of the SEC teams here or email it to me (email is in my profile). We will randomly pick 2 rankings out of all the reasonable ones submitted. Voting closes at the end of Monday, and the winners will be announced in the Baseball Power Rankings thread on Tuesday.

Here are some suggestions that we give to the regular voters:
quote:

We aren't going to tie your hands with a "formula" but we encourage you to use some of the following: the past week's results, team momentum/trend, conference record, rankings (RPI, SOS, CBN, Coaches, NPI, etc), team stats, OOC record, overall record, eye-test. We trust that you're able to form your own combo of these elements without our guidance, but we would like you to emphasize what a team has most recently accomplished.

Week 5 Power Ranking (as in, this is LAST week's PR...not this week's but the week prior to this week. Again, this is not this week's PR)
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Ole Miss
4. South Carolina
5. LSU
6. Vanderbilt
7. Kentucky
8. Mississippi State
9. Georgia
10. Arkansas
11. Texas A&M
12. Tennessee
13. Auburn
14. Missouri
Above ranking is from a week that is not this week. In fact, it's from last week. It has been provided to give you a starting point for this week's PR

*Arkansas 2-1 Vandy, State 3-0 Mizzou, Kentucky 2-1 aTm

Think the SEC will end up with 10-11 bids.

Lol at having us at 13.

There is no way at all that we are the 2nd worst team in this league.

I'd put UF #1 at this point. They have the #1 RPI.

Would move SC down, they havent been playing well and have too many injuries.

Think i'd move UT ahead of UGA. UGA has a better conference record but ony by a half game. UT has a better overall record and a much better rpi. 26 compared to 46.

If I had to pick one team not to play right now, it would be LSU first. They always scare me this late in the season.

We do appear to be hitting our stride right now. Especially if we have finally figured out our Sunday starter issues. Cartwright has been throwing well for awhile now, and he's only started 1 Sunday so far but so far so good.

I agree LSU is getting dangerous but at the moment i'd probably still keep them 3rd. They could easily be #2 by this point next week though.

I played against him in high school. He made a complete 180 turn (talent wise) from when we played him. People we're hitting him pretty bad last year. Goes to show what a pitching coach from a top tier SEC team can do.

Yeah he had like 3.6 HS ERA. That isnt impressive at all. Someone said he was a walk-on but im not positive about that. Then again no one really gets full scholarships.

He probably was just a late developer and added 3-4 mph on his fastball and he has a really good curve. One that probably wasnt quite as good in HS.
