Can you blame him tho? Its a toxic situation at the moment, it sounds like it was over the buyout $ in the contract. If White can't get guarantees to protect himself financially why not just wait it out:
- Pearl back in the league at Auburn
- Perception that UT fans/AD ran off a "successful" coach
- Reality that the cupboard is extremely bare going into next season.
- Petition of 30,000 fans calling for Cuonzo's head doesn't help either
- UT AD is basically broke and booster supposedly sitting this one out.
It's a uniquely bad situation for UT to be in...

I heard they were discussing $2 million a year. Don't know how accurate that is, but White's only making 600K at Tech.

This first broke last night, apparently Tennessee is too cheap to pay his buyout. The belmont and Southern Miss coach are next on the radar for Tennessee.
ETA also Tennessee is reaching out to former MSU coach Rick Stansbury. He won at Starkville, so he should win with ease in Knoxville.

IMO White goes to Mizzou. He is a tremendous coach who runs a 40 minutes of hell system like Anderson and Shaka Smart. Would be a fabulous hire for MIZ.

We don't have any idea of any of this is true or even if it is, what the "buyout" discussion is over. It could be coach's buyout if he leaves. In which case, if I'm UT's AD, I move along.

Eh. Our fan base wouldn't be excited about that, TBH. White might be ok. We're not looking for another Anderson.
