Not judging. Not trying to belittle anyone. Just curious/concerned.....

Are you currently working a job that your college studies directly prepared you for?

***i am aware that many jobs require a college degree during the application process, but that's not what this Survey is about....

Thanks.

Sort of. I have an Economics degree, and that applies to a lot of things, including what I do. It wasn't a degree specifically tailored to any particular field, though.

That may be a "no" in your survey

Not at first. Got a BBA and started out doing data entry stuff. After grinding out a few years, I'm now a manager, so it applies a little more now.

Just to clarify, and please help me do that, if you have any ideas or opinions on the subject, but I was thinking along the lines of............"Could you execute your job efficiently today if it wasn't for what you learned in college/grad school, etc?"

I think a majority of jobs now a days will have more on the job learning but I would imagine skills I leaned in my major make my job easier like excel and whatnot

Same. I need some of the stuff I learned as part of my major, but I still could have gained that knowledge within other majors.

Yes, my second degree does for sure and I couldn't do what I do without it. The first degree is not directly related but helped particularly in being able to choose electives which are directly related to my job.

I don't remember a lot of what I learned in college (graduated almost 8 years ago) but I think I improved my critical thinking skills during that time, so that has certainly helped me. Hard to say if I wouldn't have learned that without college, though.

I don't think I'm used any specific skills or information that I learned directly with my job, but maybe I just practice things without knowing where I learned them.

Accounting degree helped me in my career getting jobs, but I don't practice accounting. Good degree for business though. Some say better than a MBA.

Nope. Went in to staffing/sales. Had a poli sci degree after deciding law school wasn't worth it. Degree only helps me with random facts that come up during conversation.

Nope. I've actually never worked in the field that my degree is in.

No

I double majored in Broadcast Journalism and Sports Management. I'm currently in Accounting/Controlling. Once you get a job, your field of study is worthless.
