is that just last season he faced 3 (Jefferson, WHAT DOES IT MEAN???) teams we play this year. That seems very unusual as far as new coordinators go coming into a new team. That's a huge bonus that he's not having to scrounge up tape on all new teams..he's already schemed against 25% of our schedule just last year. Not just any ol 3 teams either, 1 is our season opener and the other 2 are 2 of our biggest rivals. First of all, yes, yes...I know...FSU's talent last year was arguably better than we have this year. Moving on from that...let's look at how Pruitt matched up last year to those teams compared to their season average, as well as how we did against those same 3 teams.

CLEMSON
CU 2013 averages/vs FSU/vs UGA:
Rushing- 175/123/197
Passing-333/203/270
Scoring- 40/14/38

FLORIDA
Uf 2013 averages/vs FSU/vs UGA:
Rushing- 146/78/145
Passing- 171/115/174
Scoring- 19/7/20

AUBURN
Au 2013 averages/vs FSU/vs UGA:
Rushing- 328/232/323
Passing- 173/217/243
Scoring- 40/31/43

Obviously there are tons of variables at play here. But looking at the numbers against the 3 common opponents from last year, teams were pretty much dead on their season average against us in several cases, whereas they were overwhelmingly held below that against FSU. In addition, not looking at season averages and just comparing our D vs FSU's, they did better in every single category. Sometimes laughably so.

I can't say enough how happy I am we have pruitt instead of grantham. And while I know it's foolish to expect the same results he had last year, I can't help but think we will be much improved in all phases on D.

Yes Pruitt knows what a lot of the teams are going to do offensively and yes they did have a boat load of talent over there at FSU. We are not that far behind them talent wise true we haven't had top 5 recruiting classes but we have had top 10 and thats a start. He has the guys to work with to make the defense good and I love how he seems to never be satisfied with what is going on. He always wants more out of our players, I haven't heard him say really any positive things about our guys. Most of that is mental, coach talk so our guys don't get complacent and they keep working hard.

I agree. His whole approach to our D is exactly what we were lacking here at UGA. I think it will help improve our entire team.

Very interesting stats. You're right it doesn't seem all that common for a new DC to have already faced so many of a teams' upcoming opponents. Geesh I hate looking at our numbers though, we were so damn bad on offense last year. Gotta say I'm not real pumped about facing pruitt again.

This is not a slight at all...but seeing as how he won a national title and then left for the same position, how long do yall think you can reasonably expect to hang on to him?

Good stuff. I would also add that he schemed against the new gayturd OC while he was at Duke.

He'll be a head coach somewhere soon but live for the moment. He could be at UGA for three years and help win a title. It's spring time, let's be positive.

GO DAWGS!!
