Southern people, what is the Southeastern equivalent of Braum's?

Braum's is a hamburger/ice cream restaurant, that also sells their own milk, and basically has a small grocery store in it, with produce, meats, cereal, and all kinds of ice cream and frozen yogurt.

Its based in Oklahoma, so we have them here.

I'm just wondering what the SE equivalent to Braum's is, because I shop there about 5 times a week.

Its like a mini grocery store, like you'd find in a city. Plus, hamburgers and fries.

This is true. I'm saddened to think some people live without it or a facsimile.

I bought a few russet potatoes, some Sargento cheese, red onion, and strawberries there yesterday. Also, peach sherbet.

I am actually surprised they aren't everywhere. I assumed they were, but I was looking online and saw that they are actually regional. They've been here for about 20 years.

I didn't have many favorite things about living in Oklahoma, but Braum's was one of them

They are in Texas, too. I've only ever lived in Arkansas and Texas. Here's why they are regional, which is also why they are awesome.

quote:

In order to maintain the freshness of its products, the company does not open stores outside of a 300-mile (483 km) radius of the home farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma.[1] As of November 2013, there were 280 stores in operation, with 128 stores in Oklahoma, 99 in Texas, 27 in Kansas, 13 in Arkansas and 13 in Missouri.[2]

The restaurants serve ice cream, hamburgers, sandwiches, salads and breakfast items. Stores also include a grocery section called the Fresh Market featuring dairy products, baked goods, beverages, frozen entrees, meats and produce.[1][3][4][5]

Braum's is noteworthy for its level of vertical integration. Almost all the food products sold at Braum's are processed or manufactured directly by the company; Braum's owns its own feed mill, dairy herd, dairy processing plant, bakery, stores and delivery trucks. It also owns eight farms and ranches with a total area of 40,000 acres (160 km2), as well as its flagship family dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma.[1][4][6] Braum's describes itself as the only major ice cream maker to still milk its own cows. They also produce the packaging used for their dairy products.[1][6]

You can usually convince them to sell you eggs or a gallon of milk through the drive thru.....which is awesome when you don't want to have to unbuckle three babies from their carseats.

In my neighborhood, there is a Braum's about a block away from a Walgreens.

I rarely go to a real grocery store and I almost never go to any kind of supercenter.

The reason I looked up Braum's today is I couldn't remember if mine was selling watermelons yet. I want a watermelon.

ETA: Another reason they are good is they tend to pay their employees decently and offer benefits (or they used to) so you get pretty good and reliable service, too.

My stepdaughter worked there one summer while in high school. By the end of the summer, her right bicep was HUGE from scooping ice cream for three months. Like noticeably larger than her left arm.

My mom went to high school with the guy that owns it now. The son of the Braum's. Also where Wes Welker went to high school.

It's only west of the Mississippi. Whenever I'm in OKC I can't wait to go to Braums. They have pretty good burgers and fries too.
