What is the most you would pay a coach who has never won a conference title?

I know there are a lot of coaches in the SEC who have never won a conference championship but one of these coaches in particular commands a 5 million dollar a year salary, I just think that's a little high for a coach who has never put a trophy in the trophy case.

Shouldn't at least one kind of championship be won before a coach makes more than a couple million a year?

Depends on the situation

Belicheck has never won a conference title but I'd be okay with LSU giving him 10 million a year if we had an opening

What about a coach who has yet to win a single conference game?

Stoops is the only coach in the SEC who has never won a conference game, he's getting a little over $2 million a year.

Beating a SEC team at another school does not constitute a conference game.

No one said anything about winning SEC games, just conference games. With those parameters, Stoops is in a club by himself.

you must be mistaken. didn't said coach win the sec west year before last? at least the aggies I know have told me that; they even said they beat LSU that year. but these guys don't just revise history, they are expert prognosticators. they continue to tell all (loudly and with much confidence) that they are going to kick our arse next year. i'm sure somewhere along the line, they'll be correct but they act like it's a done deal and I should be sad over it.

I wouldnt pay anybody a dime. I get no return from a football coachno matter how well or poorly he does.

now how much would I care about lsu paying someone? les never won squat pre lsu, and that turned out well. so if it takes a little more to get the potential, any amount is fine by me.

I was ok with matching PSU's $5 million to keep Franklin. I'd say "it depends on the coach," but I don't wanna ruin your troll thread.

i think you pay as much as it takes to keep your coach unless you have a better option.

sounds simple but true.
