Tennessee’s search to replace Cuonzo Martin has now turned toward Louisiana Tech’s Mike White, a source told @CBSSports. Story coming ..

Was previously reported by VolQuest that Tennessee's search was coming down to White, Tyndall, Mack, Pitino and Miller.

So an up and comer did so well with Cuonzo that UT is going after another one. Did y'all get turned down by the top choices?

Don't know. Was reported on day 1 of the search by Pearl's old partner on SiriusXM that White was the third choice behind Marshall and Miller. Looks like those two turned us down. It seems like we could get Howland/Tyndall and possibly Mack but don't want them.

I was so afraid that this is who Auburn was going to end up with.

Not sure why UT would go for an unproven guy over Mack or Howland. Seems dumb

Howland rumors are suddenly flying all over twitter. We must be getting close to a coach.

PLEASE let it be Howland, not White!

I would have preferred Howland. UT administration is too afraid to make hires like that though. Rumors that Mack was asking for $2 million (what we offered him last time) and we were only willing to go that high for Marshall.

Nah. He has been extremely successful at La Tech. Only blemish on the resume is no NCAAs.

Recruiting is apparently the number one priority in this search after Cuonzo nuked our roster.

Instead you gotta guy who only yesterday called himself a Vol For Life and went out of his way to defend Vol fans to the media. Lucky you.

Same thing with Cuonzo and no appearances right?

I highly doubt it's him since he's not really been on our list. I just think the sudden surge on twitter means we're closer to a coach given how quiet things have been. That's how I read the spike in activity since Hart hasn't shown much interest in Howland at all.

Yeah. I would be much more pleased with the White hire than I was with the Cuonzo hire though. Much better reputation as a recruiter in the south and has been much more successful as a head coach. 56-15 in the last two years.

247 confirming what Parrish tweeted:

Wes Rucker Tennessee Insider - GoVols247 - 8 minutes ago

One name continues to emerge above the rest in Tennessee's search for a new men's basketball coach. And that name is Michael White from Louisiana Tech.

Several sources have told govols247 the same thing that CBSSports.com's Gary Parrish tweeted a few minutes ago. Other names continue to be mentioned, but White's name has certainly been the most common one.

Tennessee’s search to replace Cuonzo Martin has now turned toward Louisiana Tech’s Mike White, a source told @CBSSports. Story coming ... ? Gary Parrish (@GaryParrishCBS) April 20, 2014

I mean I don't think it'd be a bad hire, but at a minimum, I'd want someone with tourney experience.
