From the Clarion-Liar

Betcha they're going to tear down the pressbox and put in an upper deck on the west end-zone in addition to the press box because it's cheaper then bowling in the NEZ

Cliffs:

Ole Miss hopes to break ground on the north endzone project as soon as after the 2014 season. Athletics director Ross Bjork said before the school's Rebel Road Trip event in Jackson Wednesday that the team needs additional financing in its Forward Together campaign to make that a reality.

quote:

"If we don't do anything after '14 then '15 at the latest is our goal.

quote:

The school hired an architecture firm to design the north endzone earlier this year, but it remains unclear what the final design will look like.

quote:

Ole Miss is focused on premium seating over total capacity, as sports on all levels face increasing competition from just staying at home and watching games on TV.

quote:

The school currently has $108 million donated/pledged to the Forward Together campaign, up $25 million from last year's Rebel Road Trip. But it's $42 million short of the goal, and Bjork said they probably need to be at $120 million in order to break ground.

quote:

"It's complicated because you have those buildings there and you got the north endzone and the scoreboard," Bjork said. "You have to figure out what we can do to that west side press box, if anything. We want to make that part of the project, because we think there's some upside there. So we've added some twists and turns to the original campaign, but the original goal is still clear in our mind."

quote:

Bjork said that annual giving is up $500,000 year-to-date, and football season ticket renewals are right on line with last year.

for y'alls sake, I hope they don't do it like this. It would look much better if the new expansion matches (height wise) as the east and west sides.

ETA: just saw the buildings would affect that plan. It sucks when education gets in the way of football

I wouldn't mind tearing down the pressbox and putting in an upper deck, the more I think about it.

However, a symmetrical expansion with two tin-roofed suite "upper decks" is the goal.

2-stage NEZ expansion. Building a lower bowel will make it just as easy to expand to match.

The pic you're talking about could easily be further expanded to match the south endzone in the future.

pank cleared that up for me. Its a lot like ours really. We already built a pre construction so that we can tear down the new scoreboard on the expansion and build an upper deck.

I'm with you. Uniformity would be dollars well spent. I hate the mishmash of what we have now.

In fact I'd rather build the dollar base and do it right than rush to put something in half assed and piece-mealed together.

Look like Neyland Stadium with crap stacked on top of crap.

Why be in a hurry when the money isn't completely in place yet?

Speaking of money, wonder where the money is coming from to fix the track facility? Cause that's going to be quite costly.

IIRC, something about the earth underneath it being unstable.

Sink holes, they were about to start on some renovations there as well because we are holding the 2016 sec track championships. But from what I've heard it sounds like they may have to re-do parts of the track if not the whole thing.
