His drawings are incredible. They show more daily life the way it probably really appeared in his day. More breathtaking.


However, just wait until you see Rembrandt's drawings. That thread is coming soon...

Which is why the Dutch Golden Age is my favorite period in all of art.

Plus if you really study it, because it is such a small nation, and the time period isnt too vast, you can really see the cause and effect of how different movements were inspired by different events and how it all evolved out of their economically advantageous position in the world at that time.

Not much of an art guy either. I honestly couldn't tell what makes those pictures any different than the ones my daughter brings home from school. I like looking at cool drawings or paintings or whatever, but I couldn't tell you one thing that makes those special compared to others.
