Just visited the zoo on texags and they have a thread with photos on warrants for Stansbury (assault) Edward Pope (failure to appear) and Howard Matthews (driving with no license, failure to appear)

I mean if this is true, this is getting to be ridiculously laughable at this point.

I got one of those

I forgot about the damn ticket I got in Conroe one night because other shite went down that was far more important. It was like 3 years ago. I went to renew my DL last year and they told me I had that ticket. Cost me like $350 to get it cleared.

But it's not a real warrant. It's not like you are going to actually get arrested for it. They just put a note in your permanent file, like when you set up a mini-bonfire in the hall of your dorm...or so I hear.

a college kid missing a court date for a ticket is pure laziness on their part.

oh I agree, but come on, we're talking about Matthews and Pope. Who didn't see that coming?

Sumlin apparently

He should have already put the fear of the football gods into them and has failed to do so

Wow, I pushed for A&M to be the modern Miami for YEARS on the mothership and now that its happened I feel conflicted.

Actually no I don't. There are future national titles and Fulmer's Cups in our future gentlepeople!

The two ticket warrants are small time. They won't even be suspended for that.

Texas A&M football players Howard Matthews, Edward Pope and Gavin Stansbury were arrested by the College Station Police Department around midnight last Thursday, according to police records.

The offseason as a whole hasn't been kind to coach Kevin Sumlin's program. The arrests of Matthews, Pope and Stansbury come on the heels of Kenny Hill's arrest for public intoxication late last month. The quarterback in competition with freshman Kyle Allen was suspended from the team indefinitely and then reinstated this week.

Matthews faces charges of speeding, failure to exhibit a driver's license and failure to appear. The 6-foot-2 senior defensive back was second on the team with 90 tackles last season and tied for first with three interceptions.

Pope faces a charge of failure to appear. The 6-foot-4 junior wide receiver finished last season with nine receptions for 65 yards.

Stansbury, a senior defensive lineman who has played in more than 30 games in his career with the Aggies, faces a misdemeanor charge of assault with Harris County. In a probable cause statement, a complainant alleges that Stansbury poured a can of beer on his head and struck him with a closed fist on April 1 at Rice University.

According to a College Station Police Department public information officer, all three were in a car with Pope when he was pulled over for having expired registration on his vehicle. The officer on the scene ran Pope's license and found a warrant for his failure to appear. The officer then ran the licenses of Stansbury and Matthews, finding warrants out for both individuals.

April 1st was a Tuesday. We had practice on Monday and Wednesday that week so it's possible he went down to Rice for some reason but it seems really weird.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by KBTX-TV regarding Stansbury and from the station’s website, “Rice University Police say Stansbury poured a can of beer on a student’s head and then punched him in the left eye on March 16. Other students pulled Stansbury and the victim away before anything else could happen. The victim needed eight stitches to close the wound.

“The alleged attack was witnessed by three students. One of them says she was grazed by Stansbury’s fist after he hit the male student in the face.”

March 16 was during spring break so no telling
