Tennessee in basketball = Texas Tech in football.

No real history of success until recently, success largely centered around one eccentric coach, treats subsequent, less eccentric but more stable coaches like shite, gets upset when success slows down.

Well I didn't say we had Kentucky level expectations.

3 different coaches during that stretch have taken us to a sweet 16.

The winning alone isn't but when you combine it with the NBA quality arena we have and top of the line facilities, yes to me it is a very impressive program.

Looks pretty good. Probably a better overall resume than anyone in the SEC except Florida and UK during that time isn't it? OP isn't saying UT is some elite basketball school, but they have put together a very solid program in my opinion.

No from my understanding we have been in the top 10 in Men's attendance for something like 8 years straight I believe.

You should. Tennessee had some outstanding teams in the 1960's and 1970's under Coach Mears. Unfortunately for them (and usually Vanderbilt),Kentucky would get the league's lone bid and UT would have a 20-6 or 21-5 record without much to show for it.

Pretty much exactly what I was saying and it doesn't make us crazy to have not been happy with Cuonzo earlier in the season when it looked like it was almost certain he was going to take a team that had elite 8 talent to it's 3rd NIT.

Well maybe you should throw some of those expectations towards your football program

Yes...until recently, UT has had no success in basketball.

1935-36 SEC Tourney/Overall Champions

1941-42 SEC Tourney/Overall Champions

1942-43 SEC Tourney/Overall Champions

1966-67 SEC Champions

1971-72 SEC Champions

1976-77 SEC Champions

1978-79 SEC Champions

1981-82 SEC Champions

There you go...Good Tennessee basketball teams all from more than 30 years ago. But you are right, they had no real history of success until recently.

Also...UT's history is based on a coach much more eccentric than Bruce Pearl.
