I wish the UTAD had no fricks left to give and would bring in Howland. How much would it realistically take to land him?

Coaching search. I won't mark anyone off until it's over let alone on the word of their AD. Not saying it's not true but too many times it's no more than pushback and lots of times it turns out to be wrong.

Please get little Ricky. It would make the Kentucky/Tennessee game that much better.

I'd rather we be show we're willing to spend than reach for a cast-off. Howland was on a downward trajectory even before he got known for dirty deed. Granted it wasn't like he was in free fall but questions remain.
Gimme an AD willing to roll out the Brink's Truck as ultimately that is what matters in getting a proven coach. Our team has been revealed as one of the most profitable in all of basketball so they have no excuse not to spend some coin.

How would Junior make the UF rivalry better? The UK rivalry makes sense but UF?!

I think Howland is the best name on the list other than Marshall and maybe the two Cincy guys.

He worked at UF and Donovan and Pitino Sr. are very close too

Surprised Tyndalls name isn't being mentioned more. He's not the big name everyone's looking for, but I think he would be a definite upgrade.

He's a JUCO guy. Not sure I want that. He's an upgrade, but I would give the hire a B or B-.

I don't know anything about him other than he's won every where he's been and he runs a scheme that's a lot easier on the eyes.

Meh, he's only been two places and his Morehead St. record isn't anything amazing.

DGAF about this.
He has won, but I am not a fan of a coach who relies on JUCOs.

Ah ok. I knew he was an assistant but I guess I just don't see a former assistant being that big of a deal in terms of ready-made hate/instantly ramping up the rivalry. If he started winning a lot then yeah OR if UF-UT got off their butts and put a little work into making the rivalry bigger and more meaningful (hell we need to do that for football too - it's dwindled without Fulmer vs Spurrier) it could be made into something really great. A close relationship with Sr. plus being a former assistant might enable them to put on a great show for us fans - games are a lot more fun when the rivalry is fed.
Regardless of who we hire, we need to feed both the UK and UF rivalries. The UT-UK one is doing good but can definitely grow yet despite UF's recent success in hoops, y'all hate us in basketball much more than we hate you - there's work to be done on our end priming our fans for it and of course we need to both pump up the general rivalry.
It would be nice to see these rivalries grow in importance, drama, and passion to where they became a draw for all college basketball fans to want to tune in.

You realize he was at UF for one season? Also, daddy sent him there to get out of town during the Karen Sypher cluster. Also, it coul be said, Lil Richard won with Tubby's players. Seems his old man was calling and running plays from the stand during the NIT Final Game.

Yeah, this was embarrassing for him.

Back to back 27+ wins at SMU isn't shabby, and yes, I realize it's in CUSA
I don't really care either way as long as we're moving forward.

What's that got to do with anything? I was saying I don't really see a former assistant as being an the kind of instant-hate injection into a rivalry. It doesn't really matter how short/long he was there unless someone special happened and by all indications it was an uneventful job.

Why? Not sure if serious. Who really cares about Pitino's offspring?
