Tennessee fans, is Ben Howland NOT an option?

He has 399 career wins, built the Pitt program, left Pitt and rebuilt UCLA. And he has sent a number of guys to the NBA...he's the best coach available, actually WON the Pac 12 in 2013 and was fired...
Is he on your shortlist as fans?

I would not be surprised if he was the guy. Apparently wants it. Would be a gigantic upgrade.

Given the Pearl issues, is there a stigma with Howland that gets in the way of him getting hired?

they are looking for a "rising star".

Sure worked out for us with Horn...

Ben Howland would be a fantastic hire I'm not sure our AD is competent enough to pull off.

What would hold it up?

Muhammad rumblings, SI expose, etc.
I honestly wish our AD operated like yours (no flame). No fricks given about the NCAA, compliance, character, etc. Just wins and losses. Sadly we are usually afraid to make the obvious moves like this one.

Been a lot of rumblings about his recruitment. Doubt the NCAA will do anything, but there have been lots of questions.

He had no choice to start operating/getting it done/producing good hires or his arse was gone after the Chizik experiment.

Hart's future is in Butch's hands. No pressure yet.

I don't think I want Howland!

Yeah, you need to read more about why that was.
UCLA doesn't miss him.

The NCAA investigator screwed this investigation up as badly as the Miami investigation was screwed up. There was no way they could uphold anything they learned. kU grad screwed it up. (Same investigator had a hard on for Haith.)

He was mostly fired because he's a headcase and can't run a program internally.

Pretty much this. Despite all of the rant bitching, I don't think Auburn is any dirtier than any other big-time SEC program.
I'm not sure our AD has the same 'balls-to-the-walls' attitude, and our product on the field reflects that.
And to be clear on this: Petrino deserved to be fired, so I'm not trying to revive that dead horse.
