Bobby Bowden was on 560 AM (Springfield, MO affiliate) yesterday afternoon to talk about his invitation to be the keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast to be held in Branson, MO.

He talked about his time at WV and Florida State, why he recruited troubled kids, Randy Moss, and finally DGB. He said, in his opinion, DGB reminds him of Randy Moss. Bowden kicked Moss off the Florida State team for violating team rules. Moss came to Bowden and pleaded with him not to kick him off the team, even offering to pay his own way thru school, but Bowden reminded Moss that this was his second and final chance.

Regardless, he helped Moss find another school to play for because, without football, the kid will probably end up on the streets or eventually in prison at the tax payers expense.

Bowden posed the question: Where will these troubled kids contribute most to society - on the streets, in prison, or making an honest living in the NFL?

Bowden also said that Pinkel had no choice but to dismiss DGB for the sake of team unity and to set an example.

Bowden hopes another school will give DGB an opportunity because all he has is football and he wanted to remind people that DGB, afterall, is still a kid. Kid's make mistakes. Doesn't mean we should give up on them just yet.

Would be a great opportunity considering his situation now...

If u messed up before u were a starter bobby would punish u. If u were a starter then the world was your oyster. And he had different rules for his foreign players. Felony charges right before the natty means u had to sit in time out for 5 minutes.

i don't want to see him just be a football player. it's sad how no one seems to think he can do anything else- even according to his girlfriend. is he that dumb or far gone? he needs an education and something more in life than football.

I can see Petrino giving him a chance, having first hand experience with being given a second chance. But am not sure what the QB situation is there.

Best I can tell he's cut out for pro sports or mindless manual labor. Engineering is not in the cards. Ditch digging would be ok, but with a shovel, not a backhoe.
