R.I.P. Captain Herb... an Atlanta Icon...
quote:

Capt. Herb Emory, who helped millions of WSB listeners and viewers navigate Atlanta's roadways, died Saturday, the Douglas County coroner said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Emory stopped to help motorists involved in a two-vehicle crash on South Burnt Hickory Road in Douglas County. One of the vehicles overturned.

"He was not involved in the crash but had stopped to try and assist," the State Patrol said in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Emory was taken to WellStar Douglas Hospital for medical evaluation, officials said.

Douglas County coroner Randy Daniel told Channel 2 Action News that Emory suffered a massive heart attack. He was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m.

Was a family friend for years. Glad he got to reunite with my dad today to talk about old Earnhardt memories over a cold frosty one, but he will be missed by millions no doubt. He was one of the good guys and died doing what he always did... Helping and loving others. My thoughts and prayers are with karen, joseph and the rest of their family friends and loved ones. Truly a loss. This has just been a plain shitty weekend for losing good people both on TD and everywhere

Always sad when someone dies. Good thoughts sent to his family.

That being said, the person that named WellStar Hospital should be fired. I'd be pissed if the Emergency Room at WellStar Hospital was in charge of keeping me alive. That's like the most bootleg, low level, half assed sounding hospital name ever.

WellStar is actually a really big Health Service System over several hospitals and numerous doctors offices in the metro-Atlanta area. My doctor when I lived in Georgia was under the WellStar system, as was Kennestone, the local hospital.

Seriously, frick heart attacks. Ive had four friends who have had a father die of one in the last two years, all were 48-55 years old. I saw a 37 year old athlete who weighs 160 pounds in the ER last week with chest pain and sure, 90% block of the LAD artery.

That shite scares me, especially since it isnt always in old, unhealthy men.

Cool, but the person that determines their marketing/branding should be fired.

Sorry he is dead, especially since his last act was to try to help someone, but I hated that guy. Worst traffic guy in history. his sing song delivery pissed me off every time I heard it.

Good news is he is in heaven and I NEVER have to listen to that clown again.
