Well to be fair, since tOSU won it 02. Only 2 non SEC teams, have won and kept the title.

true, but outside of OSU twice, no other BIG team has even played for it... and no one's even come close... Penn State around 2008 and Mich State last year, I guess... but that whole league outside of the top one or two is a joke.
fwiw, the BIG hasn't won a title in either football or basketball in that timeframe... while the SEC has won 10.

I agree with all that. Will add that Michigan nearly played for it in 06. And you could also say that Miami got hosed in '02.

if not for the fantom PI call against Miami, you'd have to go back to Michigan's shared title in 97, I believe.
and yeah, I forgot that 2006 michigan team (that was destroyed by USCw in the rose bowl)... they were pretty good in 2004 as well, IIRC.
