Alden said ticket sales for the new seating sections being built at Memorial Stadium are going well, but he also emphasized that Missouri isn’t finished with infrastructure upgrades.
“We’ve got to continue to invest in our facilities for all of our sports,” he said.
For football, the next phase might include continued expansion at Memorial Stadium, a new indoor facility and upgrades to the Mizzou Athletic Training Complex.
“Everything’s changed, but you have to and you have to invest,” Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel said. “Everybody’s competing with other schools and all that they have going facility-wise and all that they have to offer. … Facilities are a visual aid for commitment and recruits compare them. It’s so very important.”

South end zone is the one opposite the rock M for those who don't know. The south bowl currently doesn't rise up as high as the east and west grandstands but the next phase plans to even them up by adding to the south endzone

I don't have access to the Mizzou board

So are y'all keeping the rocks? Personally, I think they're cool.

Yes. At some point in the final expansion, we may put in seats on either side of the M, but it will stay permanently

That looks nice. I hope they keep those rocks and make it look like how Texas Tech has their T's.
But yeah, looks nice.

Good to hear. I thought that was being debated at one point but I think they're awesome. I'm a fan of unique fields and the rocks at Faurot are great.
Are y'all ever gonna get real grass or is the turf thing related to the weather? I ask because I think your black end zone with yellow diamonds would look great if they were painted on real grass.

Mizzou had real grass at one point, but it can't hold up the entire season when the weather starts to change

I figured y'all might be just past the weather tipping point for grass to be an option. Still, it would look great for part of the season.

Mizzou actually had natural grass ac recently as the late 1990's, but grass usually ended up looking like this in late October/Early November

It's not the weather as much as it's the actual field. It's built on bedrock and the way the stadium is enclosed in the south endzone doesn't let enough air circulate through there so there's always issues with the grass.
Back before the switch back to artificial turf they brought in some of the best guys to try to make the grass work, they had big arse fans blowing the air around there to help dry it out, and it still wouldn't work.

What Mizzeaux said, it's not the weather.

Not just the change in season, but it also has to do with airflow because the stadium is sunken and close to the water table, blah blah blah. Bottom line is we have a top notch turfgrass program at Mizzou (several ML/NFL/MLS teams have Mizzou grads keeping up their fields) and no one has been able to grow consistent turf at Faurot. It's a shame but the truth.

I don't know if we had bedrock issues or not (probably not given the way Neyland sits on one side of a hill). But Thompson-Boling Arena (just down from Neyland) had to deal with sinkhole issues and East, TN is limestone central.
At any rate, when we pulled up the turf at Neyland and went back to grass (a glorious day - we freaking hated that turf) they built one of the most advanced drainage systems in sports underneath the field grass. I suppose it's kind of like the field equivalent of a sub-flooring but our area is technically defined as a temperate rain forest (there are very few of these on the planet) so we needed it and football at UT has always had money to burn but especially back then. It sounds like Mizzou would have to build up the field before doing all that -- big costs unless the tech now can solve issues and I do know field grass tech has really grown (our uni has really added to that body of work as well as to artificial turf studies) but keeping real grass is very expensive. We're aided a lot by a fantastic Ag Dept.
And if you're interested in what the hell a temperate rain forest is or just want to see a map that illustrates how rare it is on the planet: LINK

Hopefully one day there might be breakthrough that solves it. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

Mizzou Athletic Training Complex :
I went inside the Training Complex when LSU came to town last baseball season. We were looking for something to do during the Saturday rain delay.
It's a nice building. Big cafeteria in the back around the Baseball and Softball locker rooms. Weight room has tall glass walls and is in the middle of the building. We walked around and nobody bothered us.
