Elite
Bert
Bryant
Neyland
Saban

Great
Dooley
Meyer
Spurrier
Vaught
Wade

Good
Butts
Dye
Fulmer
Jordan
Cholly Mac
Miles
Stallings
Thomas

Above average
Dietzel
Majors
Sherrill
Tuberville

If he retired now, definitely the "above-average" category. If he can win a natty, definitely the "good" category. If he can win a natty and have a few playoff appearances bolstered by an SEC title or two, he could be in the "great" category.

I'd say he sits firmly in the parthenon, since I'm convinced Richt is a virgin.

What drivel. If he retired today he'd be no worse than in your "good" category. The ONLY thing he doesn't have on his HC resume is a national title. His winning percentage is incredibly high, he's won the division multiple times and the league multiple times. To say he's on the same level as fricking sherrill or tuberville is asinine.

This is absolutely true.

The 1980 team was all about Herschel and Erks junkyard dogs , Dooley basically watched.

Richt is much better than Dooley ever was. Richt belongs in the Great, but no worse than good category , the only thing he seems to not have is the luck that comes for any team who has won the BCSNCG recently.

*** Spurrier belongs in Elite!
I hate him, but you just can't deny what he'd done, what if had taken jobs at UA, ND, UM, OSU, USC ( the real one ).
With their resources and commitment. , how many titles??

Fulmer was the winningest active coach in football when he 'retired.' He's better than good.

Except the fact that Richt has a full 10 points higher winning percentage, more SEC titles, more division titles, the same amount of COY awards, more top 10 finishes, and a 5-3 head to head against tubs
