This is a random question but the Missouri chapters of the Arkansas Alumni Board are throwing a big tailgate party in Columbia for our game in November. I'm on the board here in Springfield and our task is to handle the catering. These two companies were selected from a list that was supplied to us by the Mizzou athletic department.

My question is which do you guys prefer? None of us on the board have had either before so I thought you guys might be able to help me out.

I would greatly appreciate the help!

1) Shotgun Pete's
2) Buckinghams
3) Smokin Chicks
4) Hoss

Although I don't think Pete's caters

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately we can't use the first two. I would use Buckinghams in a heartbeat if we could. However, the "tailgate" is in Hearnes so Mizzou wants us to use their preferred caterer list. Those two seemed like the best choices off the list from what I was told.

Both are good. Hoss's will be more expensive, but also have more options. It's a little more upscale. Smokin Chik's is awesome, and Chick Orcheln does a fantastic job. He's a great guy. It'll be affordable, and very good quality. I used both for catering different things, but for a tailgate I'd probably go with Chick's.

Yeah Hoss is kinda pricey for a bbq joint. If I needed to put out a spread that looked 'fancy' I would go with Hoss, but if I wanted solid tailgate Bbq I would go with Chick's. I like their BBq much more.

Cheshire. I just opened a new BBQ restaurant in CoMo and would love the opportunity to cater your event or anyones tailgate this season. Check us out at LINK or LINK . We opened on Dec. 30 and are quickly becoming the go to place in CoMo for BBQ. If you need any more info let me know.

Not in Columbia, and it looks like you're stuck with "preferred caterers" for the event, but best bbq in the area, without a doubt (IMO of course), is Lonnie Rays. He does catering as well. Guy operates out of a glorified trailer that's falling in; what else do you need to know!

Lonnie Rays in Harrisburg

Thanks for the offer. We were given that "preferred" list from our Columbia chapter who had gotten it from the AD. I will follow-up with them and see if it is as set in stone as they told us it was and then get back with you.

Great to know. I'm sending this verbatim to our events chair so no pressure on you if they take your advice.

That sounds like Skinners down here in Springfield/Rogersville. It's basically sold on the side of the road but it is soooo damn good.

No problem. Hope it's helpful. The AD is pretty set on the preferred vendors, so my guess is you're stuck with that list. If you go with Chick's, you'll get a choice of meats. Be sure to try the sausage, I think it's Caldelero sausage or something like that. It's awesome.
