The University of Alabama reported $143.3 Million in athletic revenues — more than 55/60 NBA and NHL teams. Forbes Magazine on the union issue is sports.

Besides football, what are the revenue sports at Bama? Are basketball and baseball pulling in millions of dollars?

Basketball might be slightly profitable, but I doubt baseball is.

When 95% of the state of Alabama will buy at least a UA hat, shirt and bumpersticker, I'm not shocked they did so well

To those that wonder why Saban makes so much, look at revenues before Saban vs now.

A very good investment

The massive increase in revenue in Saban's tenure was only slightly improved because of people in the state. Alabama is a massive national brand now, so the bandwagon has brought in a ton of money as well from around the country.

I have seen it in Alabama, but nowhere else. The Bama fans have half their wardrobe dedicated to Bama items. It is almost a tax on the ignorant and poor of the state.

Is that why we don't have the lottery here? Bama merchandise takes it's place?

I agree, I don't think a ton of people outside the state are buying UA gear

Beer and cigarette Co, along with Nike could not compete with the Lotto to get the money out of the hands of the bammers.

This. Alabama sells more merch than anyone not named Texas. Although that is probably only a fraction of what Alabama receives from donors in tide pride and elsewhere.

We definitely travel to different places. I see a ton of people wearing Bama gear in other states. I can tell they are bandwagon fans because if you greet them with Roll Tide, they kind of just look at you.

Well that just isn't the case. I've seen Alabama related stuff in Nashville, Memphis, and Atlanta.

Last I checked we have the highest percentage of out of state students in the SEC outside of Vandy.

Too bad Auburn's fanbase isn't as affluent as Alabama's. Your athletic department wouldn't have to run a deficit or slash ticket prices when Bama and UGA aren't there to buy them up

Plenty of Bama fans in Chattanooga and Knoxville as well. We're everywhere.

Totally different sports with totally different markets. Bama is the LA Lakers of College Football right now.
