I figured I would ask this because I have been wondering it for awhile. Are there many hockey fans in the south? Obviously, its far from the most popular sport down there, just wondering if any of you have any interest in it, or ever talk about it.
Also, If you all haven't seen an NHL game in person, I highly suggest you make the trip to St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Dallas, Nashville, or Raleigh. Hockey is a great sport to watch live.
ETA: Miami not included due to the awful team and atmosphere. & that list of cities would be in the order of the best experience for the game. St. Louis and Tampa Bay game experiences are in a whole different league compared to the rest.

Love hockey. Know a few other hockey fans in the Bham area.
NHL 94 on the Sega Genesis is probably the best sports video game ever made. Super Tecmo Bowl is the only other game in the conversation.

I don't know for sure. I think the fans just lost interest. I went to several games and there was hardly anyone at the ones I went to. There was another minor league hockey team that played at the Pelham Civic Center about 10 years ago, but it went away as well. One of the players is on the assistants for the Bama hockey team now.

I remember going to a Bulls game when I was like 4 or so... maybe 1996. I have no clue what happened to them though. I remember the Steeldogs too
ETA: The Original Birmingham Bulls (1976-81) folded. The 2nd Birmingham Bulls (1992-2001) are now the Stockton Thunder (formerly the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies)

My dad spent a lot of time in Michigan and Canada with when I was growing up so he taught me to like hockey. I followed the Atlanta Thrashers pretty closely before they got moved...Now I sort of half-assedly follow Nashville.

One of my two favorite sports. I actually know quite a few hockey fans.

Louisville had a couple lower-level pro teams (Icehawks which later became the River Frogs in the ECHL) I'd go watch back in the 90s. Good times. Never got into it much outside of that except for the occasional club match.

Fun fact: Tim Thomas once played for the Birmingham Bulls.

I'd love for Birmingham to get an AHL team.
