But for real, I have a big time job interview coming up in April and if I get the job I have every intention of moving there. I do not know a soul that lives there or anything about living situations. Anybody know anything about suburbia in Denver? Lakewood and Aurora seem nice but I really have no idea. Is Denver a type of town you can live downtown and not worry (like highlands park, forest park, and avondale in Birmingham)
Thanks in advance

I'm from Broomfield so I'm bias but it's a great town. Stay away from Aurora. South Denver is great; Highlands Ranch, Evergreen. Golden is nice too. If you're going north of Denver I'd look around Longmont. Just my .02.

Every time I visit Denver, I love it. That's about as much as I know.

If it helps as far as location goes, I do know that the Park Hill Golf Course is very close. looking at a map it seems to be east of Brighton BLVD and St Charles Park Place and West of Park Hill Golf Club

All my SEC friends that live out there love it. They are all very outdoorsy people, so they fit out there. Just because it is legal to smoke weed out there doesn't mean your employer doesn't drug test for it. If you're into live music, Denver gets all the major acts along with everything else.
I may be moving to b'ham, how is living right around 5 points for a single guy in his mid 20's? Trying to stay away from all the college UAB bars.

well if I were you I'd be all over Golden. Arvada wouldn't be too bad either. South denver is also a good place to look. No to Westminster and Thorton.

I love living in Forest Park, which is by the Avondale neighborhood. Plenty of local bars, a brewery, good eats, and the right age people. not a whole lot of college students, mainly 25+. Highlands is really nice too if you can find the right place. its a little close to UAB so you might run into some of that.

Heard lots of great things about Golden. I did a mapquest search and its only a 20 minute drive to where I would be working so that is good too

I would avoid living in the Suburbs. There are plenty of really nice neighborhoods in the city.

Yeah if I was moving back that's were I'd be looking. Good luck on your interview! Can't say I'm not green.

They have done a lot of really nice loft style living downtown and it is a great place for an upstart. Tons of action and places within walking of your loft. I know several friends and couples that live there and they don't regret it.
Depending on what kind of lifestyle you want can have an influence on the location one can suggest for you. Colorado is a fantastic state. Good luck.

Golden is a nice location. Close to the mountains and they have several clubs and places for hanging out. Word of caution just because a map shows it may be a 20 min drive, traffic will play a part in that commute. It isn't Cali or NY bad, but it can get congested just the same.
Like I said you want to be close to a lot of action and options? Consider downtown living. Their is decent public transportation with taxi's, trains, buses, but a lot would be in walking distance or even a bike if you are into that.

Everything here is solid advice. I lived in Superior for a bit before going up to Boulder. Superior/Broomfield are nice but IMO not ideal if you want to be right in Denver.
Arvada, Lakewood, and Westminster are all kinda blah. Not necessary trashy but not all that nice either (not what I saw anyway). Lots of nice neighborhoods around Littleton.
