i agree maybe Asheville isn't that "southern", but if I had to pick one to live in, it wouldn't be Savannah.

Yeah, Charleston probablly has an edge over Savannah, but I don't get the Asheville, NC votes. If you've ever been, you know that downtown is littered with hippies.

Voted for Savannah, but Asheville is also great. If the fact that you have to see hippies ruins awesome beer, awesome weather and beautiful scenery then you may be over sensitive to hippies.

Hinesvillethrill, where is affordable place on beach close enough to take daytrip to okefenokee? St Simons hamton, 2 miles from beach, 179 plus tax per night. This is why people go to panhadle i suppose.

Both Folly and Tybee are Atlantic side trash pits, so they shouldn't factor in. I'm a big fan of Savannah, but Charleston wins because of the food and golf, end of story.

savannah and charelston's food are neck and neck. Not sure when the last time you've been to either but I've been to pretty much everywhere in both cities and both have great food. The music scene in savannah is no less than 1000X better than charlestons other than their colosseum. In fact, the general art scene trumps charlestons due to SCAD being here.

I live on the beach and when I want to go to the beach I get on the plane and fly to Saint George Island. Saying Tybee is a better beach than Folly is like saying you are the 2nd string center on the midget basketball team. The JV.
Besides the much, much better overall food and bar experiences, the history, and the economy...
Charleston has CoC and MUSC.
Savannah has SCAD and Savannah State

Why'd you skip armstrong and go straight to SS? Don't wanna pick two good schools in Savannah? South has a great medical program. Why such a bias?

I have to go to Savannah too often to deal with Gulfstream.
Savannah's food scene is not anywhere close to neck and neck. Their most famous musician is Nathan Shepperd for fricks sakes... Music scene? Some a-hole sitting by some chicken wing and quesadilla bar overlooking that shite brown river singing the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is not a music scene...
