Should be Joe Foley's job.

It was the "splash" hire among splash hires for women's basketball. Long loves the splash hire.

@RebeccaLobo: Won't be long before we're covering Arkansas women's hoops in the NCAA tournament. Congrats to new head coach @JimmyDykesLive. #GreatHire

@karalawson20: Congrats to my guy @JimmyDykesLive on being named the new Women's Basketball Coach at Arkansas! Just spoke w/ him, he's ready to go!

@ESPNAndyKatz: Congratulations to my friend and colleague @JimmyDykesLive who will be named the new women's basketball coach at Arkansas today.

Not that I care all that much, but this will at least get us a new broadcaster for Men's basketball. I always felt like Jimmy was trying to be TOO objective and ended up minimizing some of Arkansas' good.

Low risk, High reward hire. This is about the biggest splash hire you'll see in Womens BB.

They'll have the best FT shooting team in the country, that's for sure.

He's got some talent returning.

Is that sexy PG still going to be on the team? I don't think she was a senior. If so I may watch some games now. Unlikely but may.

same thing happens with guys like Herbie, make good comments and you're a homer, if you're negative it's a ploy to not be a homer. no win situation for guys who went to big schools.

Wilbon went to Northwestern and Kellogg went to Ohio State. They still pimp their schools and conferences.

Wilbon and Kellogg don't broadcast live games as analysts. They're talking tv heads. Big difference.

And good for Dykes and you guys..he knows the game and can get your program on track

this hire makes me realize more and more than our fanbase is made up of vocal morons

Good hire, it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

Good hires aren't ones where you throw something against the wall and hope for the best and see how it plays out.

A good hire is grabbing a known commodity that has a proven track record of success and a plan to continue that success and reach goals beyond their current grasp with the additional resources your organization can make available to them.

Bucknam was a good hire, Anderson was a good hire, Bielema was a good hire. Jimmy Dykes is nepotistic and a desperation move.

While we're talking about programs at the U. of A that people don't care much for... How's the new tennis guy doing? Saw they're ranked #67 and top 10 UGA is coming to town Friday.

Why do you think this? I'm curious because it seems like a good hire, but I could be totally wrong.

It's a hire that's probably more about money and politics than winning with the added bonus of a guy who could potentially coach.

WBB isn't going to make money period... but Dykes might help fundraising a bit overall. He's also a local guy and Long hasn't really hired many of those for positions and it's a bone tossed to a certain segment of our pissy little fanbase.
