Championship meet just wrapped up... a bama freshman tied for first in the 50 free and the team finished 12th overall. Other sec top 25 teams: Florida was 3rd, Georgia 5th, Auburn 6th, Tennessee 15th, Missouri 16th

What? One event. Zona had a swimmer that got the American Record in the 100 and 200 breaststroke…will probably be swimming in Rio for the Olympics.

Mike the man who wins the 50 is the fastest... and pretty sure cordes swam 2 breast in London. Going sub 1:50 is insane... going under 1:49 defies logic. Freshman from cal, who broke the record in 200 back, swam for the same club team as me. Uf coach has to be kicking himself for not getting him. He used to coach that club team 15 years ago.

This...

Little brother swims at Pitt and little sister swims at GT. More to the sport than being the "fastest swimmer in the NCAA" (in the 50 free)

How is that any different than saying the 100m winner is the "fastest man/woman" in T&F?

ehole did swim for Bama - it's not a flame.

In other news, this was the first time A&M did not finish in the Top 25 in 19 years

Swimming is an all around sporting event. Just like T&F.

You can tie someone for first, with one swimmer, in one event, but still fricking blow in the pool as a team/individual. It's like saying Todd Gurley broke one for 75 yards against Clemson and was faster than everyone else. UGA still lost that game...

Is it cute that Bama had a guy that was just as fast as the next guy? I guess, man... However, I don't really get the reason for the excitement having two swimmers in the family.

Had he broken a world record, or won the Championship for his University with that swim, I can see the praise. Maybe I just don't get the hype.

Toddiigurley... I'm excited my former team did well, it has been a while. It is ironic bama has the fastest swimmer, not auburn like normal. For the record I don't respect sprinters, my friends would laugh if they heard me claim this in a real discussion. World records aren't kept for short course yards by the way, only 25 & 50 meters. That's cool your siblings swim, I had friends who swam at both schools forever ago. Best of luck to them. Y u no swim?

Interesting fact there farmer, I had no clue it was that long. I knew a few peeps who swam there at the beginning of that stretch. We snagged the a&m coach 13-14 years ago for a few seasons if I remember correctly. hopefully next they'll start again at 1.

not that I'm the biggest fan of swimming , but I have a cousin who is a freshman swimmer at Bama. I think her and her teammates recently set a new school record in some event.

So Bama tied for the 50 and you claim you have the fastest swimmer, yet your school as a whole finished 12th overall.

Congrats, I guess
