So Nashville is joining Atlanta, Houston and Dallas as Labor day venues.
Cool.
Cool.

Id be way more excited about a Nashville game than an Atlanta game. Wish Bama would jump on that(with a good opponent)

I would like to see AU in Dallas against a Pac 12 team.
We have never played UCLA.

We won't. GA recruits are better than Tenn recruits

Middle Tennessee is starting to put out some talent.

Agreed. Still won't ever touch Ga. We play OOC teams in neutral sites to gain a stronger foothold in whatever part of the country we are playing in. At least that's how I always thought it was decided

Had New Orleans not dropped the ball they could've had the SEC/Big XII opening weekend game.
No one in their right mind would rather visit Atlanta or Nashville when they have the opportunity to visit New Orleans.

Each game would match an SEC team against a high-quality team from another conference.
WKU (less Petrino) and UAB are high profile?
With the growth of the neutral site games that means season ticket holders get 1 less home game for their ever growing "donations"

Nashville is closer to New Orleans than Atlanta.
Atlanta fricking sucks. Nashville is awesome. Sure New Orleans is the Vegas of the Southeast and is untouchable for a party weekend, but Nashville is incredible in its own right. Low crime, unlimited things to do, tons of nice hotels, great venues within walking distance of all those hotels, etc.

Nothing against Nashville, but "incredible" is a strong word. Comparing Nashville to New Orleans is apples to oranges, boss.

Labor Day weekend in NOLA is Southern Decadence. SEC fan bases and Decadents in the same spot would be gold.

Hmmm, I bet you a lot of money I won't be watching these games.

I love apples, but every now and then I get tired of them and want an orange.

If they are just looking at certain schools
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Arkansas - as trade off for a LR game
Missouri
This makes sense. NOLA is a full day drive each way and flights are not easy non stop. The bigger issue is who they get to fill the other side of the equation. WKU may work for UK, UT, and VU but who else would you invite to create enough excitement that would travel? Notre Dame is a straight shot up the interstate, but why would they come? Indiana is closer, but would their fans travel to see a loss? Louisville probably would not give up a home date with their new ACC membership.
Optimal access would be teams in the 1 - 3 hour range
After that, 6 hours or less may be the max.

How does one plan for the first time "classic"?

I would think Louisville, Virginia Tech, Ohio St, Cincinnati, Clemson, Maryland and West Virginia are just a few schools that would be ideal for the game.
Nashville is closer to big 10 and northeast than Atlanta which I think would draw in a lot of schools in those areas.

I'm so fricking sick of these neutral site games.
this is the kind of shite that will eventually drive away fans.
people want high quality home and home matchups.
not 1 P5 school at a pro stadium and Mac/Sun Belt/FCS for the rest of the OOC home games.
