So I am bored and being unproductive watching the highlights of the 2002 season and I never realized that the 2002 WLOCP was 7:45 pm. Was it ESPN or what? Did it used to be at night and I am just forgetting it? Probably doesn't deserve it's own thread but going to the game as a youngin and recently I had always assumed it was a CBS 3:30 kick

I honestly don't remember it being a night game. I couldn't imagine getting back to SSI after a 7:45 kickoff

It was definitely on ESPN at night...don't really know why I remember that but I do. I don't really know about the years prior although I'm pretty sure 2001 was a day CBS game where Grossman wrecked us.

I must've missed 02 cause I always remember WLOCP as an afternoon game as well.

Nor could I, I had to google the ESPN article about it. Sure enough it was 7:45 and I assumed ESPN

Oh god that'd be a mess. That said I kinda would love to go to a night WLOCP

I remember the feeling I had after the game but I can't remember details at all. Big part of why I decided to watch the 2002 highlights. I was 12, naive, and apparently my ADD was bad then too cause I forgot 75% of this shite

If anyone else is bored the youtube I am watching

I was there. Worst feeling in the world when Edwards dropped that pass. We rented an RV, left Jax the next morning and headed to Columbus to catch the Widespread show. Still have no idea how we made it back to Marietta after the Widespread show.

Still

Didn't even have to watch the Youtube video. The memories came flooding back when you mentioned Edwards dropping that pass! And I do remember it being at night now.

It was an ESPN 7:45 game. Back in the olden days the game was always at 1:00. Then when CBS started upping their skin in the game, they got 1st dibs on games (like we are accustomed to now) and beginning I don't know...maybe early 90ish? it was always the 3:30. In 2002 UGA was undefeated obviously and I guess ESPN wanted to really do something special, so they worked out a deal with CBS to have first rights that weekend and took the WLOCP.

With so many fights, arrests, brawls, etc. it was essentially mutually agreed upon by UGA, UF, and the city of Jacksonville that it would never be a night game again.

this makes alot of sense...i am usually drunker than Cooter Brown by the 3:30 kick...it would be insane if it was at night every year....

Good point, by 3:30 I am usually at a level of inebriation that is just silly so a night game may be a horrible idea

Someone needed to tell the refs in that game that a hand-off is not a lateral. Remember Pollack handing the ball off to Thomas Davis after he returned a turnover almost the length of the game.

The stupid refs called it an illegal forward lateral.

!#!# was not a lateral. It was a !#!# handoff.

That stupid call cost Georgia a National Championship.

3:30, OR BUST!

The only way I ever see them doing a noon or night game is if the series switches to a home and home series, or the frickers actually agree to play us in Atlanta.

frick JACKSONVILLE!! Come to Atlanta every other year. Jacksonville is a fricking joke. It works out as we plan a cruise after the game ever year, but having them come play in Atlanta would be great. Sick of pumping money into that joke of a state for this game. frick everything that is Florida.

That's stupid. If you're going to do that you may as well do a home and home. I hate when people actually spew this garbage. WTF is the point of rotating neutral sites? The history has it in JAX, it's already set up perfect there infrastructure-wise, and it's the best damn party of the fall. Those who wanna move it are a) zero fun and or b) never been to St Simons/The Landing before and after

No, sir, frick you.

Fuggin JAX haters can lick my sack. Go Jags.

It was Sean Jones IIRC. The only reason I know that is because I respected the hell out of that guys' game. Probably one of the most underrated SEC players in recent memory...an All American safety that was excellent in all phases of the position (and special teams) that nobody has ever heard of. UGA had some crazy good safety play the first 6 or 7 years of richts tenure.

I will always remember Sean Jones for when he took that fumble vs UT for I wanna say 97 yards. UT was fixing to take the lead 14-13 and instead we go to half 20-7. Great game. I will always remember my dad and I losing it in the basement and Georgia going on to wax that sorry Vol arse
