Why on God's green earth are you guys having to travel to Toldeo for a game? Was this scheduled back when Mizzou was struggling (although, I don't remember you guys hurting that badly). Just curious, no flame.

We also have to travel to Arkansas State. I'm not a huge fan of having to do either.

How does this happen at an SEC school?

I think we got put in a little bit of a pinch with our scheduling when we changed conferences. I seem to remember that there were some games that we were trying to fill in on a short notice type of thing. After Nebraska and Colorado left the Big 12 we were playing 9 conference games. When we came to the SEC and switched back to 8 conference games we had to find extra non-conference opponents. This may be why we agreed to play those teams at their house.

They schedule home and home's with cupcakes, especially to start the season, and especially since we've joined the SEC. Have to ask Alden and Pinkel why I guess.
Toledo is where we hired Pinkel from FWIW

I wouldn't consider either a cupcake, especially at their house. Both are dangerous in my opinion.

It's a favor to their program, Pinkel and most of the staff coached at Toledo.

Similar reason we have Wyoming on the schedule down the line, although I'd bet that ends up getting canceled.

Thought I recalled some rumors about the Arkansas State game being moved to St. Louis. I'm betting those were just rumors because I haven't heard any more of it.

I heard something about a group of boosters in St. Louis possibly trying to get it moved to Busch Stadium, but I don't know how true that was. I think the rumor I heard came from Arkansas State's board or something. Wouldn't mind seeing it happen, but not holding my breath.

That @ Toledo thing is a nice gesture, but that could get a lil hairy.

Pretty sure it has a lot to do with this. I remember there being a bit of an issue with the scheduling during the switch. It's also why we're still rocking the Big 12 OOC schedule with all the OOC games up front.

Well, that makes a little more sense. It just seems like Missouri is a big enough program that they didn't have to do those types of away games.

I thought Pinkel said he's trying to keep it that way and wasn't a fan of the way the OOC games were spread out in our first SEC year.

They like to get the season rolling at 4-0 and then get into conference play.

And I'd bet the Toledo and Wyoming games have more to do with trying to help out those programs because of the Mizzou lineage than the conference shuffle.

You could be right, I'd just always heard the scheduling thing was the real issue especially with the Arkansas State games. As I recall, we were in a pinch and needed a game last year and 2015 @Arkansas State was the payback. This is probably a different situation and I just made the connection to that.

I was pretty sure the OOC schedules were scheduling too, but it makes sense to keep the OOC games front loaded for as long as possible.

I really don't know about Toledo, but it makes sense that's we'd be going there to help out GP's roots. However, if someone scheduled the Wyoming game five years ahead of time in hopes that a middling coach would still be there they should be slapped.

We should have bought that game out for sure. No idea why we are allowing it to happen.

I'm hearing the Ark St game will almost certainly be played in STL.

Also, we aren't playing any games to benefit any mid major programs. We basically had to take it to fill out the schedule, but we should have bought it out.

The Ark St game was due to conference realignment. Sunbelt teams were available for the same reason. This is why A&M played at La Tech. MU will not play in Jonesboro. It will either be bought out or moved to KC or Stl.

We were supposed to play Wyoming in 2011, but it got moved when Nebraska agreed to play them 2 for 1. We agreed to move our game with them to 2017 or something. That game will never happen probably with Christensen being gone.

The Toledo game was scheduled like 8 years ago. Pretty sure that is Pinkel paying them back for starting his career.
