****SEC Gymanstics Championships - Official Thead****

The Eight Gymnastics Schools in the SEC compete today at 2pm (Arky, Aub, UK and Mizzou) and 6pm (Bama, UGA, LSU and UF)
#8 - #5 - they're not going to win, they're here because it wouldn't be an SEC Championships without them
quick hits though
-Mizzou - has done really nothing all year but that's to be expected with a first year HC.
-Kentucky - knocked off some good teams this year and have been pretty bi-polar with huge to embarrasing scores all year long. A consistent meet would be a great result.
-Auburn - had NCAAs in their sights and grasps until a DOUBLE Achilles tear (ouch) to their star Bri Guy have the tigers in safe mode. Look for a dangerous tiger team in 2015.
-Arkansas - They don't have the same talent across the board as the SEC powers, but Arky possess both the 2014 SEC FOTY and POTY in Amanda Wellick and Kat Grable. At the very least they should make some noise in individual awards.
Contenders
#4 Georgia -if there's an underdog in session #2 it's the Dawgs. This isn't the 10 time champion caliber team you usually expect from Georgia and they'll be satisfied if they finish top 2. Make no mistake though, they have the talent to win, it will just take a season best effort.
#3 seed Alabama - Host team, always dangerous wouldn't surprise anyone to see the Tide win. Their low seed is due to a slow start to the year messing with their average score which determines the seeds. Sarah Patterson's crew own the second best score in the NCAA this year. Look for a sea of Crimson and White to try to "Roll Tide Roll" Alabama to a victory.
#2 LSU - D.D. Breaux (what a great LSU name) has been in Baton Rouge since the dinosaurs roamed the earth and always had an ok to good squad. This year things have gone into high gear and captured the #1 ranking for several weeks this season. LSU is on a historic run and their first SEC title since the 80s would cap it off nicely
#1 Florida - The defending Natty and SEC Champs are led by Olympians and Worlds Team members. They are legit and in a normal circumstance, if they hit, they'd win. But all season long UF has headaches on the road, falls, bobbles and botched landings have resulted in a loss at Bama and a season low scores in UCLA and Auburn (they did end the regular season with a monster road score so maybe the worst is over). Basically, Florida has had problems when entering the State of Alabama
The SEC Championships are hosted by Alabama in the BJCC Arena in Birmingham. If you're in the area, check it out.... and them send us updates because this damn thing isn't broadcasted or stream live by ESPN, CSS, FSN or Jefferson Pilot or ANYTHING.
ESPN will delay broadcast it next week but that's pretty lame.

things may change when the SECNetwork gets here, but yeah, no respect for right now.
You'd think college girls in leotards would be great TV

If I see any other SEC Gymnastics Championship threads I'll direct everyone in that thread to this one.
This should be the official SEC Gymnastics Championship thread. RA'ed for sticky.

I hear ya. It's puzzling since it's one of the top ratings bonanzas for the Olympics. Then again, hardly any of the Olympians that are super famous come to college because they go pro.

Gymnastics is rigged. Hosted by Alabama? I guarantee Bama wins.

The national championships are also at the BJCC in Birmingham this year.

Beam was their weak point under their last coach. If that continues under this coach it will explain the bi polar scores. Usually pretty good at floor.

We were improving and the combination of Bri Guy going down and MJ Rott being an immature freshmen has killed us.

Arkansas- Kat Grable
She good looking

This is because they get them at home and Kentucky judges are some of the most ridiculously biased and retarded judges out there. The AU v UK meet had the 3rd highest team score of the year nationally by UK. Talked to an Auburn offical who said that they were handing out good scores like halloween candy

Their girls need to stop doing double amanars and stuff and go to easy skills. They don't get bonus points yet they add difficulty. It is retarded. College gymnastics does not equal club/international scoring
quote:GOing to win. Bridgett Sloane and Hunter alone should bring it home plus they have another solid elite level gymnast with the italian name I think that is spot on
#1 Florida

Hopefully the SEC Network shows this kind of stuff.
I really do enjoy gymnastics.

might only be gymnastics, but it'd be nice to flip the channel to it for a few minutes during bball/golf commercials ... hope it's on the sec network next year ...

The meets themselves are pretty entertaining. I went to the Alabama vs. Stanford meet a couple of weeks ago had tickets right in front of the balance beam. The flips those girls do on the beam are amazing. Impressive athletes.
