"The College of Education and Health Professions’ graduate education programs moved up nearly 50 places in the overall rankings; the Sam M. Walton College of Business M.B.A. program moved up 11 places in the rankings, but even more notable, it continued to lead the nation in the number of full-time Master of Business Administration graduates employed at graduation; the School of Law, meanwhile improved its overall ranking by seven places over last year, and has climbed 47 spots since the 2008 rankings."
Such a better all-round University now then when most of us attended.

Yeah I saw that the other day. Those are impressive gains.

Good stuff. I've tossed around the idea of applying to the Executive MBA program. I'd rather do that than go for a UALR MBA.

I'd be happy to provide my EMBA experience (California) if you need any opinions. What I initially wanted is certainly not what I ended up with (program) after speaking to many MBA alums from MIT, UCLA, Arkansas, Columbia and UPenn. I'm much wiser for my decision and with much less debt.

I don't put too much stock in these rankings, BUT.... I'm very happy Arkansas is bottlenecked with other good programs just as we should be.

Awesome stuff.
I must admit You of A always makes me laugh. Just like Something Big is Coming did as well. Your marketing department is really funny and I like them.

Cheers for the School of Law.

Tuition and Fees for Fall 2014 EMBA: $39,000
Is this per year or for the whole program?
The major driving force for getting my MBA from UA is to actually have a degree from Fayetteville (and not go to UALR). Call me a snob, but I'd feel ridiculous having my BSBA from WashU and a MBA from UALR.

Ok, that makes MUCH more sense!
I'm going to do some more research. Since UA MBA is so heavily focused on supply chain, it really might not be the best option for me.

It's been a looooong time since I paid any tuition so I really didn't know. Some places though I wouldn't be surprised if it was 39K per year.

My son, a recent U of A grad with very nice LSAT and GPA scores, has decided to change his residence to Arkansas from Texas.
He has been accepted to all of the top Texas law schools other than UT(Houston, SMU, Baylor,) and was accepted to U of A as well. He'll probably get into UT as well but not qualify for much scholly money.
Arkansas has closed the gap on those schools very very quickly, and he believes it to be a poor decision NOT to go to Arkansas, which is less costly.
And with the MBA he will get as well, he should be very employable with minimal school debt.
I think he is doing the right thing

He is doing the right thing even if he doesn't stay in the Mid-South area afterwards.

It would be a tough call if I were in that situation as I've always, in spite of my disdain for Longhorn sports, regarded the UT Law School as top notch. But as you say Arkansas has closed the gap and he should be fine, especially getting his undergrad degree there. That's the path I took, although I think the practice of law has become increasingly difficult over the years. But then again, maybe that's true of all professions.
Couldn't you talk to him into med school? I actually knew a select few folks who got both degrees. Lots of schooling though.

He wants maximum flexibility in the job market
He's making a good choice.
Heck, I'm getting an MBA myself (will start in August) through the UTDallas/UTSiuthwesten Medical School collaborative program. This is for physicians only.
Any business that is undergoing disruptive change(Medicine for example) provides opportunity for profit. I intend to profit
