Per Marshallcotiger in another thread on Davis
quote:

The 1st official offer of the Pearl era. Story written by Ben Roberts UK recruiting beat writer from the Lexington Herald Leader

Auburn assistant coach Tony Jones called Lafayette star Jackson Davis on Thursday night to offer the uncommitted class of 2014 prospect a scholarship.

Ginger Davis, the player’s mother, said that Jones is trying to arrange an in-home visit with the Davis family for Sunday night. New Auburn coach Bruce Pearl is not allowed to talk to prospective recruits until August, due to NCAA sanctions from his tenure at Tennessee.

Davis’ mother said the family wants to meet with Jones before deciding whether or not to put Auburn on the list of schools under consideration. That list currently includes Alabama, Arizona State, Butler, Columbia, Creighton, Florida and Vanderbilt. Florida is the only school on the list that has not offered a scholarship.

There is no set timetable for Davis’ decision. He is planning to take several more visits before making his college choice.

Doesn't have an offer from the current staff and I doubt he gets one. Probably will end up at Western Kentucky or Florida Gulf Coast.

Nice frame on Davis, potential for more muscle to go along with the long arms.. He'll be able to bulk up and bash the boards. He looks like a shorter Tim Duncan.

Any idea who the top targets are for Alabama and Georgia? Those are the kids I'm most interested in. Those are the kids we will have to build this program with long term.

Nope there has not and I don't imagine they'd release Longwood but we'll see on Purchase. Just for a numbers sake I think they'll both enroll

Longwood seems to fit the system and the kid can ball. Would be shocked if he was released

This will be interesting

If they ask for a release we will oblige. It is common practice in basketball during a coaching change. I'm a little worried about Longwood. Tom Izzo has been making inquiries and I think if we don't keep Miller he will most likely wind up at Mich St.

I really want to keep Longwood, I'm indifferent to Purchase though.

Whether we keep Miller or not seems to be a big deal. I am hoping that we offer Miller at the least and if he goes to HC at that one school, he keeps selling AU to Longwood.

Tom Izzo needs to back off.

Jackson Davis talks recruiting, new Auburn offer
quote:

Tigers assistant coach Tony Jones called Davis on Thursday night to extend a scholarship offer on behalf of new Auburn coach Bruce Pearl. Jones is arranging an in-home visit with Davis and his family for Sunday night. If all goes well, the Tigers will join Davis’ list.

“I probably wouldn’t have considered it before, but Bruce Pearl is definitely one of those coaches you have to at least consider,” Davis told the Herald-Leader on Friday. “I remember watching him (at Tennessee) — he knew what he was doing. He definitely knew what he was doing.”
