When I was a kid, it was the only mall in Tuscaloosa. Sounds like Stan has a plan, though.

That thing is creepy inside. It's a nice piece of land. Good decision to demolish it

Probably starts with being a total fricking a-hole, then goes from there.

That being said, I used to be an assistant manager at the arcade, Diamond Jim's, in that mall. What a fun job... all the Swedish Fish I could eat, and all the games I could play!

Ahhhh, youth.

No more Killer Buzz Arena.

Where will the rednecks go for the next sanctioned fight in Tuscaloosa?

It's the easiest way to get rid of the piece of shite Albetar - tear down the whole mall.

Does anyone remember the Little Gallery? That was the only reason I visited McFarland Mall post 2000. I always wanted that GameDay Daniel Moore print they had when you first walked in.

ETA: and the mean Indian guy selling gold chains. "No buy, no touch."

Yep. Gayfer's was the place to go for back to school clothes shopping, then to Wagner's for some shoes, then hit up the Orange Julius or Baskin Robbins for a snack, then a movie or maybe a new record or tape at Turtle's. Pretty sure that's where I saw Star Wars for the first time. I know I saw Empire Strikes Back there, and too many other movies to remember.

What was the name of that pizza place across from the theater? It always smelled good, but I never ate there that I recall.

Orange Julius, Pasquales, Gayfers, movie theater. Lots of childhood memories. Baskin-Robbins too. The Veaux Carre lounge in later years . . . not too often though.

Step 1. Grab shotgun.
Step 2. Load shotgun.
Step 3. Get in truck.
Step 4. "Step away from the deep fryer!"

They're working on it. They built the Cheddar's over there. That area is the opposite side of the university, but it doesn't mean it has to have an empty mall sitting on it. I'm anxious to hear who the retailers are going to be.

Yeah that Walmart pretty much put every other store over there out of business. People had pretty much stopped going to McFarland Mall when the Walmart opened though, except to run into Gayfers or to the movie theater. I'll never forget the last time I walked through McFarland Mall about 15 years ago and how sad and empty it was.

Pretty decent history on McFarland Mall here.

Harry's is where I got my first haircut. Up until 2011 when I moved, I still went there to get my hair cut.
