Look nobody here loves UGA football more today than I have in the past.

I was in graduate school when Herschel was there. Never missed a home game for years. I made every home game as an undergrad even the 79 season.

I have lived in Louisiana now for 30 years and traveled to every UGA game in Mississippi or Louisiana for the first twenty years I lived here.

I am glad I discovered LSU baseball a few years back and I encourage everyone to take a look at NCAA baseball.

Overall there are less trouble makers in baseball than football and every team I have watched at Alex Box from the SEC seems to made up of real students trying to at least get an education.

Until college football fans expect their coaches to recruit students we will have these characters that CMR seems to be known for. If we had one or two bad apples every couple of years it would be one thing. We seem to have at least a half dozen trouble makers every year and another half dozen that can't stay in school and we continue to give such guys $100K worth of scholarships.

Who wants to spend thousands of dollars to sit in the stands and root for the thugs? I feel sorry for the good kids on the team and for the kids who want to make something of themselves that did not get an opportunity to sign with UGA as we made room for the thugs.

Well put sir. I share your sentiments for the kids who are making grades and staying in line. It's bullshite that they have to put up with people who put themselves above the team. Not only does it bring down the performance on gameday, but it's embarrassing for the school and the athletic department. Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of coach Richt and have the utmost respect for him. But how is he supposed to go into a recruit's home, look his parents in the eye, and ask them to trust him with thier son when this sort of thing keeps on happening on his watch?

This very reason is why other SEC schools bulk up on analyst (baby sitters).

You said the "T" word and from what "they" said on the liberal news media, it is just a better name for the "N" word, so we can't use it anymore.

This is the cost of winning (or trying to anyways) at the highest level of NCAA football.

I wish all the coaches had the attitude of Slyvester Croom when he was at MSU. He kicked em off the team left and right until he was left with the kids that wanted to act right and play. He couldn't win his last year because he had kicked off so many.

MSU should have given him another year or two IMHO.

Maybe CMR should get him as an assistant.

The big money sports of football and basketball at most every school have some of this type athlete. But Georgia attempts to handle these issues publicly. Do you think no other school has players doing this very same thing, but they hide it internally?
Until the NCAA develops a mandatory reporting system and a standard punishment scale we will continue to see schools handling this "internally" and laughing at Georgia and a few others for trying to do right.
Miles ignoring assaults and drugs, Spurrier ignoring DUI and theft, the Lizards ignoring theft, assaults, drugs, and rapes, etc.

"Thug" became a taboo word at some point in the last few years. People started getting offended.

Alacowboy you are right. Other schools in the sec handles this internally, whereas uga handles it differently, and as a result uga is the laughing stock of the sec bc we only recruit thugs......no uga just does everything by the book, while like you said, other schools just ignore it. Uga would never let someone rape or kick an unconscious man in the head, and let them back on the team. The worse uga players has done has been what mett and b Marshall did, sexual assualt and stealing from teammates. Crowell charges got dropped so it doesn't count. Ppl at Florida shoots automatic weapons in public, LSU guys rape, auburn guys getting paid etc, yet richt has lost control of his program bc some kids smoke weed or drive with a suspended license. And what these 4 guys did is wrong, but nothing like other players from sec schools. Hell look at the ole miss bros, and their 2 million dollar lawsuit.

And when aj green got busted for autographed shirt, but then nothing happens with jonny manziel, its retarded.

lol no biggie.

Just for kicks, I decided to check out our 2014 baseball roster. Looks like we've only got two players that aren't "white" (based on photos).

I don't think it's a racial thing, though. I think there's a cultural difference that explains the lack of major problems in baseball players compared to football/basketball players.

There are way deeper issues at work here than just "thugs" making bad decisions.

This will turn into another feather in the cap of the pay the players crowd. Also, I doubt any of them want to be at the point where they feel the need to commit check fraud. The issues that got them to that point need to be identified and addressed.

Actually I agree that paying players is part of the solution but probably not in the way you might think. NCAA rules should be strict and strictly enforced. University academic standards should be high and apply equally to student athletes, no exceptions. If the NFL wants to support thugs, then they can support farm teams like they have in baseball. Let the thugs become semi-pro athletes and they can get paid as much as the market economy is willing to offer; education entirely optional.
