So, today begins a new season if power rankings. Nino and I were talking about this, and thought we should add the guest vote component. That way, if you're interested in contributing, you still have a chance to!

If you're interested, post your own ranking of the teams, 1-14, and a short comment about your favorite team here in this thread. Please cast your vote by 8pm tonight.

The first ranking will be posted tomorrow morning. Thanks!!

Just to add to this, here's the rough guidelines we gave to our voters
quote:

We aren't going to tie your hands with a formula but we encourage you to use some of the following: the past week's results, team momentum/trend, conference record, rankings (RPI, SOS, CBN, Coaches, NPI, etc), team stats, OOC record, overall record, eye-test. We trust that you're able to form your own combo of these elements without our guidance, but we would like you to emphasize what a team has most recently accomplished.

1. USC 2-1 (18-1)- Suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night but was able to take the series by winning both double-header games on Saturday. SC is 8-1 against top 50 RPI teams so far.

3. Tennessee 2-1 (17-2)

4. Auburn 2-1 (13-7)

6. Ole Miss 1-2 (17-4)

7. LSU 1-2 (17-4)

8. Florida 2-1 (13-7)

9. Mississippi State 2-1 (15-8)

10. Kentucky 1-2 (14-6)

11. Georgia 1-2 (13-8)

12. Texas A&m 1-2 (14-7)

1. USC

2. Vanderbilt

3. LSU

4. Tennessee

5. Ole Miss

6. Mississippi State (Started off on a real shaky note, but you can tell this team is getting better every game we play. The Georgia series was big confidence booster going into this upcoming weekend against Vandy. Auburn and Bama are very similar to State record wise and could all be switched up, but you can see that State has the talent, but is lacking chemistry. This weekend against Vandy will tell us a lot about this team.

7. Auburn

8. Alabama

9. Florida

10. Kentucky

11. Georgia

12. Texas A&m

13. Arkansas

Strong pitching staff. Good at the plate but can struggle with RISP. Should have taken the series against a very good team on the road in Lafayette but errors costed them game 1. Won a series against a team in Kentucky that can smash the pill. Still a young team that should only improve as the year goes on. Has a ceiling of 3-4 in the league and a floor of 10-12. Could be a dangerous tournament team due to the deep pitching staff

1. USC 2-1 (18-1)

2. Vanderbilt 2-1 (18-3) - Played in probably one of the best regular season series of the year right off the bat (no pun intended) against LSU. Excellent series and a couple of late errors from sweeping the Tigers. Can't argue for them being #1 yet with SCAR only having lost one game.
*edit* Also, Vandy has won 23 straight regular season series (15 SEC).

3. Auburn 2-1 (13-7)

4. Tennessee 2-1 (17-2)

5. Alabama 2-1 (12-6)

6. LSU 1-2 (17-4)

7. Ole Miss 1-2 (17-4)

8. Mississippi State 2-1 (15-8)

9. Florida 2-1 (13-7)

10. Kentucky 1-2 (14-6)

11. Georgia 1-2 (13-8)

12. Arkansas 1-2 (9-7)

13. Texas A&m 1-2 (14-7)

14. Mizzou 1-2 (9-9)

I realize this is all subjective at this point, but I'd like to hear some rationale behind anyone ranking Auburn top 4 in the league right now. Several bad losses and haven't played a top 25 team yet.

Won the series and has the top SOS in the league right now.

Sounds legit to me.

Swept Mercer ~10 days ago as well.

I think 4th is high for Auburn (as did our PR voters this week), but the first week of ranking is generally the hardest. You don't have a previous week to go off of
