At least for me.

The fact that we were basically teased and shown flashes of a good team, to have it ripped out of our hearts when we just needed 1 more win over 2 bad teams makes it worse. I would have rather lost at Kentucky and choked another game away so I never got my hopes up. Who would have thought we'd be where we are right now after absolutely destroying Ole Miss and looking like a Top 15 team?

To finish the regular season 8-2 in our last 10, and not get in, it's tough to handle. I think just about every one of us had us in the NCAAT a week ago, if not a lock.

Sick of the great day that is Selection Sunday, not involving the Hogs.

I think we get in next year, but like always, next year.

Im tired of getting embarrassed. Last two games were embarrassing, and football was the same. Spending way too much money for the product from our athletic department. I'm taking a year off for sure, lower the prices, or get un-pathetic.

'Tis better to have been teased and pained than never to have been teased at all. Maybe???

If we couldn't beat South Carolina in a tournament setting, we weren't going to beat a 5 seed as a 12. It would have been more embarrassing because people would have actually seen that game on TV.

None of my business, for sure. But, for sure, I can't keep my stylus still. Ok, you do that, and what if most or even a large group did what you say you're gonna do, for sure? If you're truly a fan, how does that help your program, how does that attitude of yours, etals, help Billy Wayne Layne in Coonpecker Point, Arkansas want to stay and play for the Hogs instead of going to the Aggys and eating beef instead of pork, having cool boy cheerleaders, etc? Duh, it doesn't, for sure!
I remember listening to the Tigers on the radio, (pre tv), we had some pretty good years in the 50's, Natl champs in 58 and some exciting times. But, do you not think that there was some torment through several years and cycles? Of course there was. We had plane crashes, deaths of coaches, recruits going out of state, anything that could go wrong, did.. Everything comes and goes in cycles, even and especially fans like yourself. Honest question, does your team have to be successful for you to be a fan? If so, I suggest you get away from sports,,, cause nothing lasts forever, ask George Steinbrenner, Joe Pa's family, etc. C'mon, man!
Be proud of the past, hope that things that are happening now are giving y'all opprutunity to be proud of the future,, or just get off the pot, for sure.

j1897 has never posted anything good about Arkansas, he's most likely another closet Arkansas State fan who doesn't get any attention, so he has to crap on the Hogs any chance he gets.

Hmmmm, public hangin' on Main Street in Jonesboro might be fitting? Free, no admission to attend and the public is welcome , byob..

Heck, I'll admit, for 1 day in November and a few series days during baseball season, I do not like the hogs, but I don't talk near as bad about em as that "Arky fan" feller!!

piggilicious, I keep seeing a feather when I read your post..

We will, and I'm not someone who always thinks next year is "the year." I didn't think we would be very good this season (we were actually better than I thought we would be).

But I think we will be nasty next year, especially if Atwood hops on board. Not just a tourny team, but a 4/5 seed and maybe even higher with a little luck.

Agreed, if we're being totally honest this isn't a tournament team and we saw that throughout the year. Couldn't close against Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, barely beat Vandy and State on the road, and proved that we don't belong in the tournament by losing to Carolina in a must win scenario.

When we beat Kentucky in Rupp I still didn't think we were a tournament team, and when Lunardi had us in the last 4 in I was shocked. This Kentucky team just isn't that good, and our win against them was blown out of proportion.

Before Kentucky we were HOPING to make the NIT, unfortunately all the fair weather fans jumped on the bandwagon and got unrealistic expectations. Case in point, the OP of this thread.

One of, if not the, most disappointing (teasing) aspects of this team. I still firmly believe this was the best team since Nolan. I'm not saying they underachieved at all but wow could we see the potential there at times. We had flashes of awesome. And even if it ends with the sads, it was the most fun season in a good while. Moral victory probably but when you're starved a nibble is better than nothing, IMO.

This team is like the first Nolan squad once he had his core and Sutton's was not having to be relied on. You could see the direction he was taking the program, but recruiting was "struggling" until he signed his first McD's AA.

Another parallel is the amount of McD AAs who are coming in "groups" that Arkansas has a legit shot at getting in the 15 and 16 classes. Nolan signed two in one class (Day, Mayberry) from local areas (Memphis, Tulsa) and that is when the program really started picking up momentum.

Arkansas is likely to produce its own McD AAs in the next two classes, at worst likely 4 of the last 5 years at that point would have produced a McD AA, something that has never been done by the state. The state did produce some in the 80s, but hit a huge dry spell after Corliss.

If not them, equal from elsewhere.

I get why a kid from Arkansas would want to go to Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, etc. if given the opportunity right now, all those have the reputation as being a "NBA factory", obviously it is because they always have and get top tier talent the NBA will want, but kids see it as an easier path if they go to those type schools.

So how does the NOT work now? Do the top seeds still get to play at home until MSG?

We would still be on the first four out like today if we would have beaten USCe. Fact.
