Winner plays Kentucky in the quarterfinals tomorrow night.

If we lose by 15+, is there any chance that we pull an Auburn and fire Grant before the weekend?

So you start a game thread, only to have that in the first post? Screw off. Let Chad start the game thread.

More like a tournament thread since the tournament started last night, we don't have a tournament thread, and we play in under eight hours. But it's nice to see you're in a good mood.

People who assume forum responsibilities are awesome.

ETA: I missed your thread. I apologize for stealing your posts. Next time, do a better job of titling your thread to eliminate this unnecessary confusion.

There is a tournament thread

Don't be a dumbass who doesn't pay attention to his surroundings. Also, don't start a game thread immediately asking about the coach being fired. My board, my rules.

Again, you're the one who titled a thread with a shite title. Make it more clear next time.

It's a pretty obvious title. Accept your stupidity and we can have this thread deleted.

I don't want this thread deleted. Accepting stupidity over the fact that someone titled a thread without mentioning basketball, tournament, the opponent or time? That seems like you need to learn the difference between stupidity and comprehension. It's hard to comprehend when someone does a poor job of presenting. Most threads lean towards being helpful in presenting the basic facts of the event (see TigerRant, their thread title is direct and to the point).

Vague thread titles are frowned upon. However, I can see what your thread title meant. I just expect someone who uses a forum regularly to be considerate in titling a thread.

People that pay attention to our basketball team know the SEC tournament is this week. People that pay attention to our basketball team know that we will need to win 4 games in 4 days to make the big dance. People that pay attention to our basketball team can comprehend that title.

quote:

Vague

The definition of vague states: unclear character or meaning. There is nothing unclear about 4 games, 4 days good sir. Our baseball team isn't playing 4 games in 4 days, they are playing 3 games in 3 days. Same with softball. Football isn't in season. Using context clues about our surroundings, we can easily deduct what said thread will be about without clicking on the title.

Your title should have been more clear.

Every other thread is clear. Maybe you're the one that needs to work on presentation instead of arguing over stupidity.

Let me make a thread about baseball and title it "Going for nine in a row." Or, I could title it "Baseball: Kentucky vs. Alabama." One gives no clue to the context. The other is clear and obvious.

I'm sorry you didn't know what my thread was about.

It's weird though. The people I know that actually follow our basketball team closely all posted in that thread. I guess I got lucky they knew what I was talking about. Whew

Many people come to this board who don't post or respond to you. For those people, it's helpful to see basic info. I'm not saying your thread title was confusing. However, it wasn't clear.

Okay I'm done screwing around. But seriously, the first post of a game/tournament/whatever you want to call this thread shouldn't include the option of losing and firing a coach. We got a huge thread to bitch about Grant. We need a few threads to create good juju for us to win this thing.

Was that about a specific event? Because there's a difference between an event thread and a thread about random things. That's why the title would be helpful. It prevent confusion. So thank you for proving my point.

I hope we do fire Coach Grant, however, I don't think Athletic Director Bill Battle has it in him to be heartless and fire Grant solely based on a business decision. All this nonsense about Coach Grant has built enough equity up within the program to be kept for another season is a lot of bunk. In what world has he built up equity? He went winless on the road this year, we canned David Hobbes and Mark Gottfried for similar problems. Hell, Alabama is the only team in the country that does not have a win on the road this year out of 300+ teams. His record per year at Alabama has been: 17-15, 25-12, 21-12, 23-13, and 13-18. Double digit losses per year? That builds equity? We have been to the NIT at 25-12, NCAA tournament at 21-12, and the NIT at 23-13, I am sorry, but being on the brink of the NCAA tournament year in and year out is not acceptable, especially at say a Florida or Kentucky. I mean Grant has a 99-70 record at Alabama which is good enough for a .586 winning percentage at Alabama. Mark Gottfried had a 210-131 record at Alabama with a .610 win percentage and we fired him. David Hobbs had a 110-76 record for a .594 winning percentage at Alabama, so don't tell me Grant has equity.

Auburn did the right thing in firing the first salvo and terminating Tony Barbee, Alabama needs to do the same. A coach is supposed to improve in wins and eliminate losses year in and year out, and twelve or more losses a year for Grant is unacceptable because that shows no real improvement in coaching the talent year in and year out. I love Alabama basketball and I do not want to see us keep fighting for peanuts when a football school like Florida is number one in the country and is more than likely going to be the overall number one seed in the NCAA tournament. The Gottfried years were painful enough, I don't want to watch the traveling clown show that is Alabama basketball under Anthony Grant for one year more.
