On a scale of 1 to 10.. How bad is Jacobs going to disappoint us? I think most of us are swinging for the fences (Tubby Smith, Bruce Pearl, Ben Howland). Are we in for a huge let down or a pleasant surprise?

He hit, what I consider, homerun hires the last three(football, softball, baseball) so I think he may actually know what he is doing.

when was the last time an auburn hire disappointed?... Barbee is probably the correct answer, but at the time it was viewed my man as a solid hire.
imo, the last few hires jacobs has made have been solid... Chizik brought us a national championship, Gus is phenominal, the new softball coach is a proven winner and has them playing well, Golloway has a solid resume at a major program, the the WBB coach was a nice hire (though the early returns are mixed).
I know the narrative that "JAYJAY SUX!!1!!1" will likely never go away, but perception doesn't match reality.

I agree with this. Although when hired I thought chiz was a bad hire, and when hired i thought that barbee was a good hire. Odd how that worked out.
I still think the chiz extension was a bad one, and that we waited a year too long to fire barbee, but i think you're right in saying that the perception doesn't match the reality.

probably the worst decision he's made as AD, at least recently... there was literally no one wanting to hire chizik, and giving him a boat load of extra money made no sense (just like when bama game a raise and extension to make shula after he lucked into 11 wins).
i'm not saying he's flawless by any stretch... just that he's made some solid hires. It's probably fair to question the ADs leadership once those hires are made, and how that affects the overall ath. dept's performance.

I wouldnt mind someone from the big 10 maybe an assistantof Wisconsin or Michigan State. I just want us to play defenense and rebound. We can turn this thing around quick

Any insiders with a legit target list? Who are the "hot" young coaches at smaller programs?
Posted on 3/13/14 at 9:28 am to Aubie Spr96
Stansburry is a pretty hot name right now because he has show ninterest in AU in the past

Saw where donnie tyndall, mike white, and jeff capel are on the short list. Come from brett mcmurphy

$20 says we don't get pearl

I think Howland and Pearl are the top tier targets that we have an incredibly slim chance at.
I don't know how I feel about Stansbury

Pearl's show clause ends in August so there's going to be a feeding frenzy for him. I doubt he takes AU over some of the other jobs that will open. With that said though many people think he wants to stay close to Tennessee because he loves the area and has so much family there.
